First direct-feed Disgaea 5 Complete footage
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Switch, Videos | 16 Comments
Update: There’s been a lot of talk about the click sound Switch makes when you connect the Joy-Con controllers (plus a bit of a video effect). You can watch that at the 7:13 mark below.
Original: During a live stream at the end of last week, Nippon Ichi showed some of the first direct-feed gameplay of Disgaea 5 Complete running on Switch. We have the full recording below.
Disgaea 5 is heading to Japan for Switch’s launch on March 3. The North American and European release will follow at the end of May.

A better look at the available icons for Switch
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Images, Switch | 48 Comments
When first starting up Switch, Nintendo will allow you to choose your own icon. Friends and others you play with will be able to see the image you selected.
We did see the various icons in one of the leaked videos from a few days ago, but now we have a better look. All of the available choices are depicted above. You’ll also be able to use your Mii as your icon.
Devolver Digital teases first Switch game, news planned for GDC 2017
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 10 Comments
Devolver Digital sent out a tweet last October following a meeting with Nintendo. It went well, as the company said it was “confident” about some of its titles appearing on Switch in 2017.
A new update posted on Devolver Digital’s Twitter account just a few minutes ago notes that its “first Switch game is coming, hopefully later this year”. It also sounds like we’ll be hearing some news out of GDC 2017 next week.
The tweet is as follows:
Our first Switch game is coming, hopefully later this year! More news during GDC…exciting!

8-4 not working on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 localization
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 113 Comments
8-4 worked on the English version of Xenoblade Chronicles X. But for Xenoblade Chronicles 2, announced during last month’s Switch presentation, the localization company is not involved. Co-founder John Ricciardi confirmed that 8-4 isn’t handling the Japanese translation in a Twitter message last month.
Nintendo currently intends to have Xenoblade Chronicles 2 ready sometime in 2017. That includes North America and Europe as well, though some have doubts about it launching in the west this year.

Square Enix considering Final Fantasy XIV for Switch
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 64 Comments
During the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Europe earlier today, Square Enix commented on a possible version of the game for Switch. It’s under “consideration”, the company said.
In August 2015, director and producer Naoki Yoshida stated that Square Enix was open to putting Final Fantasy XIV on Switch, when it was called NX. It sounds like things are slightly more concrete, though we still don’t have a confirmation of it actually happening.

Nintendo says “small number” of Switch systems were stolen, confirms early unit was “illegally resold”
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 76 Comments
Nintendo has provided a statement to IGN noting that “a small number” of Switch units were stolen “in an isolated incident by employees of a U.S. distributor”. The company adds that “units were stolen in an isolated incident by employees of a U.S. distributor, with one system being illegally resold.”
Fortunately, Nintendo has discovered the root of the problem. “The individuals involved have been identified, terminated from their place of employment and are under investigation by local law enforcement authorities on criminal charges,” the company says.
Here’s Nintendo’s full statement:
“Earlier this week, individuals claimed to prematurely purchase a small number of Nintendo Switch systems from an unspecified retailer. Nintendo has determined these units were stolen in an isolated incident by employees of a U.S. distributor, with one system being illegally resold. The individuals involved have been identified, terminated from their place of employment and are under investigation by local law enforcement authorities on criminal charges.
Nintendo Switch will launch worldwide on March 3, 2017, and we look forward to everyone being able to discover the wonders of the new system for themselves at that time.”
This is all related to the Switch leak from earlier in the week. hiphoptherobot, who obtained the system, indicated today that it was sold to him after it was obtained through illegal means. While Nintendo took back the system, he apparently won’t be getting into any trouble.
