Posted on 8 years ago by Dennis Gagliardotto(@LyonHart_) in Reviews, Wii U, Wii U eShop | 5 Comments
System: Wii U
Release date: March 18, 2016
Developer: Bandai Namco
Publisher Nintendo
Way back in 2013, fans were treated to a very short three second clip of Lucario and Blaziken standing across from each other in a gorgeous HD graphical style we had not seen with Pokemon before. It was a whole year before we heard anything regarding it, and then out of the blue, it was announced: Pokken Tournament, a fighting game developed by Bandai Namco with supervision from Tekken and Soul Calibur heavyweights Katushiro Harada and Masaaki Hoshino. It was confirmed to come out for arcades in Japan, but ultimately fans all over the world wanted it in their homes where they felt it’d be best – the Wii U. It wasn’t until sometime into 2015 where we finally received confirmation that it would indeed be making its way to Nintendo’s home platform and getting a worldwide release in 2016. Now, here we are. Pokken Tournament is in the hands of fighting game an Pokemon enthusiasts around the globe, but has it been worth the wait?

Dex coming to Wii U after other releases, but will be the “definitive version” with new features
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
After initially launching last year, Dreadlocks is now focusing its attention on bringing Dex to new platforms. Of course, that includes Wii U.
Dex is nearly ready to debut on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but the Wii U version is due out later. It’s not all bad news though, as Dreadlocks is planning “new features which will take full advantage of the console’s unique aspects and capabilities, such as the GamePad or Miiverse.” The studio believes Dex’s “definitive version” will be on Wii U.
As written in a Kickstarter update today:
“As for the Wii U version, it will come after the PS4 and Xbox One versions, but for good reasons: we are adding several new features which will take full advantage of the console’s unique aspects and capabilities, such as the GamePad or Miiverse. We can’t tell you more just yet, but we’re all very excited about what will be the definitive version of the game!”

No plans for online co-op in the Wii U version of Hive Jump
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 17 Comments
Hive Jump, Graphite Lab’s upcoming sci-fi action-platformer, will offer co-op with up to four players. There are plans to make this feature available both locally and online on PC, but it’s been confirmed that the Wii U version will only support the former option.
Graphite Lab’s Matt Raithel told Fragments of Silicon in a podcast interview:
“That’s something where we felt like the platform certainly is kind of a party platform. We love playing games on Wii U in kind of party mode. So we don’t have online in the plans for Wii U, but it will be for PC.”
One feature included in the Wii U version of Hive Jump is being able to look at the mini-map on the GamePad. amiibo support is also in the cards, and the studio is looking into the possibility of other features like off-TV play.

Axiom Verge heading to Wii U later this year
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 24 Comments
Axiom Verge is making its way to Wii U, creator Tom Happ has announced. A release is planned on the eShop later this year.
Here’s a brief overview of the game:
Axiom Verge is a retro-style action-platform-exploration game done in a 16-bit style and was heavily influenced by games like Metroid, Contra, Blaster Master, and other classics, but with very modern design sensibilities. It also gives you power over glitches like those found in classic games, allowing you to scramble enemies, corrupt environments, and enter hidden areas as you explore this hostile alien world and uncover your role within it.
Axiom Verge features more than 40 weapons and tools, close to 100 upgrades, over 80 creatures, nearly 1,000 rooms, and six supported languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
Happ suggested that a Wii U version of Axiom Verge would happen last June. As for 3DS, bringing it to that system would be “more difficult since the hardware is so completely different.”
