July 2016 NPD: 3DS was the best-selling system of the month

NPD will be publishing its full report next week. When that’s made available, the top 10 best-selling games in the United States during the month of July will be revealed. Until then though, we have a few random bits of data that have been shared early.
The big thing we’re hearing is that the 3DS was the best-selling overall system. The likes of Pokemon GO and Monster Hunter Generations should have played a big role here. Unfortunately, the Wii U didn’t nearly as well (to be expected at this point) with just 24,900 units sold for a 45.7 percent drop year-over-year.
As for software, the one piece of information we have is that Minecraft was the top-selling game in July. The physical version of Minecraft: Wii U Edition should have factored into that, at least slightly.

Fan-made amiibo compatibility chart – version 10.0

moldclay is back with another update to his fan-made amiibo compatibility chart once again. In this latest version, it’s been brought up to version 10.0, adding in games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Azure Striker Gunvolt 2. Wave Race 64 and Mario Sports Mix coming to Wii U in North America today

Wave Race 64 and Mario Sports Mix will be hitting the Wii U’s Virtual Console today, August 11. Wave Race 64 will cost $9.99, while Mario Sports Mix will cost $19.99. Below are the official descriptions for each:

Nintendo announces new Nintendo Selects, Super Mario 3D Land Edition New 3DS, amiibo bundles

Update 3 (8/10): These are all now live on Amazon.
Update 2: New Nintendo Selects are mostly live at GameStop.
Update: The new amiibo bundles are already up on Amazon. If you’re a Prime member, each one drops down to $32.
Original(8/9): Nintendo has announced several new items which will help consumers save money on their products beginning later this month.
First, a number of new Nintendo Selects are on the way. The following titles will drop to $20 starting on August 26:

On August 26, a New 3DS bundle containing the system, a pre-installed copy of Super Mario 3D Land, and two cover plates will be sold for $149.99 exclusively at Walmart and Target. This is $50 less than the suggested retail price of any New 3DS bundle before.
Lastly, several new amiibo bundles are also coming starting on September 9. The lineup includes:
– Yoshi’s Woolly World: Pink Yarn Yoshi – Activates “Double Yoshi” in single-player mode, allows players to save favorite collected patterns to the amiibo figure
– Yoshi’s Woolly World: Light Blue Yarn Yoshi – Activates “Double Yoshi” in single-player mode, allows players to save favorite collected patterns to the amiibo figure
– Mario Party 10: Peach – Play with and customize the amiibo in Party Mode

SteamWorld Collection lands on October 11 in North America

SteamWorld Collection was recently announced for both North America and Europe. It’s a physical version bundling SteamWorld Dig and SteamWorld Heist together. SteamWorld Collection will be included in a new “eShop Selects” label in Europe, while Rising Star Games is handling it in North America as a standard release.
We already knew that SteamWorld Collection would be heading to Europe on September 30. In North America, Image & Form has now confirmed a launch date of October 11.

Bloodstained to offer different animations depending on the weapon you’ve equipped

The developers behind Bloodstained have returned with a new Kickstarter update. In this month’s message, the team goes over weapon animations. Currently, the plan is “to add a number of basic weapon animations, which will vary depending on the weapon you have equipped.”
