The official YouTube application for Wii U has been updated once again. At the moment, we’re not entirely sure what’s changed. The modifications are likely minimal, but if we hear about what’s new, we’ll be sure to keep you informed.

Nintendo has a promotion running all around the world for Super Smash Bros. owners on Wii U and 3DS. By registering both games on Club Nintendo, you can receive a free soundtrack CD and access to Mewtwo DLC this spring.

We haven’t heard about too many issues pertaining to the promotion, but those in the the Scandinavian region are dealing with a major problem. Here’s what reader Håkon sent us:

It seems as though the Scandinavian region is cheated out of the Smash Bros.-promotion with the soundtrack and Mewtwo being provided to those who purchased versions for both the Wii U and the 3DS.

As the 13th of January draws closer, and the last date on which you are allowed to register games for the promotion, Bergsala (the Nordic distributor of all Nintendo games and merchandise) has yet to make any statement on how or if they will provide this promotion to the loyal fans in this region. This is by no means the first time Bergsala is unable to keep up with the content offered by the company in other regions.

I personally attempted to get a statement from Bergsala regarding this matter, but the only reply I got was that they had “no information regarding these campaigns at the moment”. Of course, this could be no more than corporate talk, but there are currently no signs that they have any plans of including us this time around either.

Seems like the Nordic region is yet again left out in the cold.

Hopefully things can get sorted out over there soon!

Hyrule Warriors logo

Technobubble published an interview with Zelda director/producer Eiji Aonuma and Koei Tecmo producer Yosuke Hayashi before the launch of Hyrule Warriors last year. While it’s a few months old, the discussion contains several noteworthy comments and we wanted to share those with you.

We hear, for example, that Tingle was considered for Hyrule Warriors as a playable character, but Aonuma advised the team against including him. Aonuma commented on the possibility of other Nintendo franchises seeing crossovers with the Zelda series, noted how he’s interested in applying what Hyrule Warriors did with bosses that move across the map for Zelda Wii U, and touched on Zelda remakes. On Hayashi’s side, he spoke about the possibility of Hyrule Warriors 2 and a few other topics.

Head past the break for several excerpts from the interview.

We shared this screenshot in our New Year’s roundup post, though we now have Nintendo’s official translation of the included message. View it below.

Happy New Year! Wishing you a tentacular, squidtastic, cephalopoppin’-off 2015! Now let’s get down to business. Check out the first photo we received this year from our research team. It looks like the crazy squids celebrate New Year’s also! But…wait. Squids keep track of time?! I don’t even…
