After the new trailer released last week, we discovered that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is way closer than we thought, with a new release date set for July 29 rather than September. That is something incredibly rare in the gaming industry and may be a sign that Nintendo and Monolith Soft are really confident in the game.

With that in mind plus some other thoughts, in today’s video I discuss the possibility that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 could be the best we’ve seen of the series thus far. Feel free to check my conclusions below.

The Silent Kingdom has been secured for Switch after a successful Kickstarter campaign.

Lucky Cat was seeking €25,000, and its first ten hours, that goal was already met. The campaign later cleared each one of its stretch goals, including one for Switch. Fans ultimately contributed over €50,000.

Lucky Cat describes The Silent Kingdom as “a story-driven, otome RPG where the player’s choices and interactions with other characters set the narrative.” Players will experience “the dark tale of a princess who must corrupt her own soul in order to save her kingdom, reaping death and sorrow along the path.” The project is being developed with RPG Maker MV, but it sounds like it’ll be redone in Unity.

The “cutesy action adventure puzzler” Dandy & Randy DX will be appearing on Switch this week, publisher Ratalaika Games and developer Asterstic Game Studio announced today. It will be available on April 29, 2022.

The premise of the game is that Dandy and Randy, a pair of archeologists, owe a ton of money to a huge bank. After recalling a promotional flyer about riches in a faraway island, the two head off on an adventure to check it out. Dandy Duck, a pink duck who loves archeology and discovering new things, is the main character. His partner is Randy Rabbit, a blue bunny that loves technology, flying his plane, and adventure.

According to the latest NPD report, Switch was the best-selling hardware platform in the United States for March 2022 in terms of unit sales. However, Xbox Series led the way in terms of dollar sales. The Xbox Series X costing significantly more at $500 partially plays a role in that.

With March concluding the first quarter of 2022, we also get further insight there as well. As it turns out, things are exactly the same. During Q1 as a whole, Switch led the way in the U.S. when it came to unit sales, but Xbox Series came out on top for dollar sales.

We also just reported on the latest results for software sales in the U.S. In case you missed it, you can find the top 20 here (featuring the debuts of Kirby and the Forgotten Land as well as Triangle Strategy). We also have a look at the best-selling games year-to-date and last 12 months here.
