Although we don’t have official confirmation, it’s looking like the Samus and Fox amiibo could be phased out at Target stores. Employee Zach “iamxZ3R0” Collins shared the photo above on Facebook, which indicates that the Fox figure is no longer available. Zach has also apparently confirmed that Samus is showing as discontinued as well.

iNiS made two Ouendan for the DS back in the day. Supposedly, there were plans to create a third entry for Wii.

Unseen64’s Liam Robertson was in communication with “a very trusted source”, who spoke with iNiS’ president and was informed about the company’s intentions to bring Ouendan to Wii. It’s unclear why those plans never materialized. Robertson hopes to learn more about the situation in the future.

Four retailer-exclusive amiibo have already been confirmed for North America. Shulk will only be available at GameStop, Best Buy is the exclusive store for Meta Knight, Lucario is at Toys “R” Us, and Target has Rosalina and Luma.

This might not be the end of retailer-exclusive amiibo, sadly. Check out this message from one Best Buy Canada representative:

amiibo-exclusive

Having anything be retailer-exclusive isn’t what anyone wants to see. I guess we’ll see how this plays out!

Though set to release on January 2nd next year, UK retailer GAME is reportedly selling Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker a bit before schedule. In related news, GAME are still in business. Reports are showing that shipments of the Wii U game have an “availability” date of 19/12/2014, online orders are currently being shipped and stores will have the game in stock on Monday – just in time for Christmas! Then again, there’s always a chance that Nintendo will put a stop to all this street-date-breaking, so don’t count your Toads before they, er, ship.

A report coming from Sankei indicates that Sharp Corporation is to provide Nintendo with a special Free-Form Display. This LCD screen “can be shaped to meet a wide range of user needs,” Sharp says.

It’s rumored that Nintendo will use the Free-Form Display in a new handheld or its upcoming Quality of Life device that monitors sleep. Sankei posts some speculation – apparently coming from official sources – that the company is considering a design where the LCD screen will feature a hole in the center.

Because of low stock, Marth has quickly become one of the rarest amiibo. But now we’ve apparently seen one Marth figure that could be the rarest of them all.

Marth typically holds just one sword. However, GameSpot was sent photos of an apparent amiibo that features two swords, due to a manufacturing error.

We can’t officially confirm the validity of the photos, so we’ll go ahead and label this a rumor just to be safe. Though GameSpot does say that it has seen three videos showing the defective Marth with his two swords. Assuming it’s true, this is definitely a sweet-looking Marth!

Several internal Sony e-mails have been leaking to the press over the last week following a particularly nasty hacking incident, and some uncovered by Buzzfeed appear to contain some interesting Nintendo-related details. According to leaked e-mails between producer Avi Arad and Sony higher-ups, Arad had landed the rights for Sony Pictures Animation to produce an animated film based on the popular Super Mario Bros. series:

“I am the proud father of mario the animated film [sic],” producer Avi Arad told Sony studio chief Amy Pascal in an email dated Oct. 23, 2014, with the subject line “Mario.” Arad then forwarded Pascal separate images of him with Mario Bros. creator Shigeru Miyamoto and Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata, the latter of which included the message, “Happy ceo, lets get together, it’s the mother load. [sic]”

An internal notice from GameStop provides some insight into the retailer’s handling of amiibo figures.

Regarding wave 2, Diddy Kong, Zelda, and Little Mac should be released over the next few days. However, Luigi, Pit, and Captain Falcon “have experienced a shipping delay and will not be available until late December.” Pre-orders for all wave 2 figures are now closed.

We’re also seeing more talk of discontinuations for wave 1 amiibo. Marth, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer appear to be gone – as expected.
