Rumors

Recently there has been quite a bit of rumors about the possibility of the discontinuation of the Gamecube controller adapter for the Wii U.

Now we have some clarification from Nintendo of Europe about stock levels and what they are doing to address the issues.

In an article from Nintendolife, Nintendo of Europe commented:

We would like to reassure you that GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U has not been discontinued by Nintendo of Europe and we are doing everything we possibly can to meet the demand which is currently outstripping supply.
We are unable to comment specifically on individual retailer stock levels and as such we ask customers to contact their local retailers directly regarding their availability of this product. We would however like to reassure you that we are working hard to ensure that additional stock can be made available and delivered to retailers.

Yesterday, Video Games Plus put out a message on its Twitter account claiming that Nintendo has discontinued the Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, and Villager amiibo. The Canadian retailer now published a similar message regarding the GameCube Controller Adapter. Assuming Video Games Plus is correct, the accessory has been discontinued as well.

Nintendo may have discontinued a trio of amiibo figures, if one retailer is to be believed.

Video Games Plus stated on Twitter earlier today that the Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, and Villager are “gone forever”. That’s based on information apparently coming from the retailer’s Nintendo distributor. Video Games Plus was told that all three “are officially discontinued”.

EA is rumored to have been working on a new SimCity console game in recent years that sadly ended up as a cancelled project.

Liam Robertson from Unseen64 – a site known for digging up game information including games that never made it to market – writes on Twitter that the title would have landed on Wii U in addition to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The plug was apparently pulled back in October 2011.

A prototype was created, though EA did not move forward with the new SimCity console project. It would have released alongside the 2013 PC game.

Amazon France recently put up an entry on its website for ZombiU 2. Shortly after Jeuxvideo forum members spotted the listing, it was removed.

ZombiU 2 is rumored to be set in New York. Strangely enough, Bandai Namco is listed as publisher – not Ubisoft. Amazon also includes an October 17, 2015 release date, though that’s likely not final.

Of course, there is most certainly a possibility that Amazon France’s overall listing is inaccurate. The fact that Bandai Namco is listed as publisher raises a red flag. I suppose only time will tell!

Nintendo did not disclose any official numbers for Bayonetta 2 as part of the latest NPD results. However, an important piece of sales data appears to have leaked out.

NeoGAF member “Dartastic” claims that Bayonetta 2 sold 68,000 units in the U.S. during October. We’re generally wary of posting NPD leaks that don’t originate from creamsugar, who is considered to be a reliable source for sales figures. However, Dartastic’s post was apparently verified by a moderator of the NeoGAF community.

Bayonetta 2 launched on October 24. Since NPD’s reporting period ended on November 1, the game only saw about a week of sales.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is making a number of improvements to the original game. Nintendo hasn’t detailed all of the changes, but we’re aware of things like enhanced visuals, an improved boss battle, and the inclusion of fishing. Another improvement may concern the handling of Clock Town.

Those who played Zelda: Majora’s Mask on the N64 are well aware of the different sections of Clock Town. There’s North, South, East, and West areas. Each time you head into a new section of the town, you’re presented with a brief loading period.

For Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, these loading sections may have been eliminated entirely for a more streamlined experience. Check out the shot below:

According to a listing on the Wii U eShop, Alphadia Genesis is launching in North America this week. The official game page includes a November 20 release date – that would be this Thursday.

Until we receive a confirmation from Natsume, we’ll consider this a rumor. View some new English screenshots from Alphadia Genesis above.

The credits of LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham seem to tease the future of LEGO video games. At one point, players are shown a Tyrannosaurus Rex with the Jurassic Park theme song.

We do know that LEGO will be making Jurassic World sets in 2015. There has been speculation about a video game as well. Maybe we’ll hear something next year then…

There’s a bit of talk going around regarding a possible new update for Wii U. It appears that a few console owners are seeing evidence of new firmware in the “Download Management” area, but it has not been successfully downloaded. It would seem that the download was initiated by Nintendo for a small sample of users, though was then pulled soon after.
