We’re still two months away from Splatoon 2’s release, but we already know the game’s file size – at least the one of the Japanese version, though other language versions shouldn’t be drastically different. A listing of the download version of the game on Amazon Japan has revealed that Splatoon 2 will require 5.5GB of space on your Switch.

Nintendo is doing something slightly unusual for Splatoon 2’s physical release in Japan. In addition to the regular physical version, the Switch console bundle and a download code for the game you can buy in stores, you can get a “game card free” version of Splatoon 2. This is the regular game case, but instead of a cartridge, it comes with a download code for the game. This is intended for people who prefer to own a digital copy of the game, but still want a game case for their collection.

At the moment, it seems like you can only get this version at the Japanese My Nintendo store, though it’s possible some retailers might carry it as well.

Given how popular Splatoon is in Japan, Nintendo could probably get away with just selling the game case without the actual game at all and it would still be a sales hit!

Nicalis’ Cave Story+ on Switch has got an interesting release history – it’s being published in all three major territories by three different publishers and each of them seemingly has different plans for a release date and the game’s physical version.

In North America, Nicalis are publishing the game themselves, and it will see both a physical and a digital release in June. In Europe, Nicalis is partnering up with Headup Games to release the game, though at this point we don’t know if the game is getting a physical there, nor do we have a concrete release date.

Today, we learned that Pikii is publishing Cave Story+ in Japan. It will get both a physical and a digital release there; as for the release date, we only have a rough time frame of “2017” at the moment.

GameStop is offering up a new Nintendo Switch bundle for $499.99. The bundle comes with the Switch console, neon red and blue joy-cons, 64GB microSD card, and digital copies of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and its expansion pass, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Has Been Heroes.

In the Weekly Jump, Square Enix showed off the “Mysterious Smithing” system that would allow players to create and strengthen weapons, armor and other forms of equipment.

Here is the process for the smithing system:
– You must obtain a recipe for the Mysterious Smithing, they will be on book shelves and various other locations
– Then you must collect the necessary material for the project, these will be found in locations like fields
– Then start Mysterious Smithing and strike at the ore to fill up the on screen gauges. You will be aiming for the success zone on these gauges
– There are “special skills” that will assist you in your smithing endeavors
– Collect “Restrike Gems” to power-up already obtained equipment

Dragon Quest XI is coming to the 3DS in Japan on July 29th and is still planned to release on the Switch.

Tharja has overtaken Robin in the most recent Voting Gauntlet. Players can now log into Fire Emblem Heroes and collect heroes feathers based on if their team won and their own personal rank.

The Fire Emblem Heroes official Twitter tweeted out that the “Lloyd White Wolf” hero battle will be happening May 19th.

The official Splatoon 2 Twitter stated it will be partnering with 7-Eleven in Japan. The partnership will include nanaco figures and special in-game gear.
