Four Horses made it known recently that Digger Dan DX had been pulled from the 3DS eShop. An unfortunate situation had developed, and First Star Software (owner of the Boulder Dash rights) asked Nintendo for its removal. Many had thought that Digger Dan DX would be gone permanently, but it looks like that won’t be the case at all.

Here’s the latest from Four Horses:

I am happy to announce that I received an immediate response from First Star Software, Inc. having contacted them on Sunday, and we have already settled this issue to our mutual satisfaction. (In fact I’m thrilled with the terms.) I hope to get Digger Dan DX back on sale as soon as possible though, due to the re-submission processes with Nintendo, this may take a few months. Hopefully much less. (I don’t know yet.)

Definitely good to hear that it’s all been settled! When Digger Dan DX does return to the eShop, you’ll be the first to know.

Earlier this year, Back in 1995 released on Steam. The indie game was created as a love-letter to the survival horror and mystery experiences from the PlayStation days. In the game, players “uncover the mystery surrounding the disappearance of your daughter, the catastrophe that shook the city, and why you’ve decided to finally return.”

Here’s a trailer for the original release:

It’s now been confirmed that Back in 1995 is making its way to 3DS, and it’ll be shown at BitSummit this weekend. The new version will be called “Back in 1995 64”. On the lower screen, you’ll see a Virtual Game Console. Sometimes irregularities will occur which will hamper the gameplay on upper screen, such as cables getting loose or cartridges needing to be re-inserted, reminding people to things that actually often happened 20 years ago.

On another note, Back in 1995 64 is planned to be compatible with the whole 3DS series. However, there’s a a precaution that it might end up only supporting the New 3DS.
