IGN recently spoke with Animal Crossing: New Horizons director Aya Kyogoku and producer Hisashi Nogami. During the interview, one of the topics discussed was the collaboration art that fans have been making for the new Switch game and Doom Eternal. These two titles technically only share the same release date, but the internet has really run with the idea of Animal Crossing and Doom coming together.

Most Switch games make use of cloud saves through Nintendo Switch Online. Animal Crossing: New Horizons, however, isn’t one of those.
Speaking with IGN, director Aya Kyogoku and producer Hisashi Nogami explained that the lack of compatibility is in place to preventing cheating. Nogami noted how Animal Crossing: New Horizons is an online game, and cheating is a concern with such titles. Kyogoku, meanwhile, also said that the in-game economy could be abused if cloud saves were enabled.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons datamine – Froggy Chair missing, codename, engine, list of special NPCs and villagers

Dataminers have gotten their hands on Animal Crossing: New Horizons, revealing the latest information about the game.
First up, Froggy Chair is currently missing in action. This object simply doesn’t exist in the game’s files at present. Will it be added later? Perhaps, but at least for now, it doesn’t seem to be included.
We have some other details as well. It looks like Animal Crossing: New Horizons used the codename Park, runs on Nintendo’s Lunchpack 2 engine while also using the Havok engine for physics.

GameStop cancels Animal Crossing: New Horizons midnight launch events, demo stations shutting down

When big games drop, GameStop often holds midnight launch events. That was originally the plan for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. But due to the coronavirus, all midnight events have been cancelled, which will impact the new Switch title.
Kotaku got its hands on an internal memo from GameStop, which states:

The first major update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Version 1.1.0, will be released shortly before launch. You can download the update if you have the game pre-purchased and pre-loaded on your Switch. This update is expected to introduce the Bunny Day holiday event and enables online play.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is gearing up for the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons with a new crossover event.
Starting today, players can catch plenty of deserted-island fish, preview the deserted-island setting, and take advantage of special log-in bonuses. Tom Nook’s aloha shirt is also available.
