Update: The theme will only be a limited time after all (thanks AJ_Blaze_). Be sure to grab it while it’s free!

Capcom has released the free Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate theme (“Hunter’s Weapon Gallery”) for 3DS. This is being made available to celebrate the game having shipped over one million copies in North America and Europe. It seems to be permanently free, but I’ll update this post if I hear otherwise.

Thanks to Adrian B for the tip.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate was updated with its third round of DLC, though that’s not the only thing that’s new. Capcom has prepared two new items packs as well. “MH4U Support Pack” and “MH4U Advanced Pack” are both free of charge.

Head past the break to find out what’s in both packs, and for instructions about how to obtain them.

The free DLC pack for May is here! On the first Friday of every month since its release, Capcom has been delivering fun and awesome DLC for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. This time, the DLC brings you Street Fighter, Mega Man and Metroid gear as well as the High Rank Universal Studios Japan equipment, new Challenge Quests, a bonus Palico and tons of other exclusives. Check out the video below to see some of the stuff you’ll get in the new free update!

Capcom is supporting Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate with free DLC each month. We’ve seen things like new quests, items, and more. DLC launches during the first Friday of every month, so another round of new content is expected on May 1.

This week’s GameStop ad may reveal some of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate’s May DLC. Pictures showing Palico equipment based on Mega Man and Blanka are in the circular, along with armor featuring Samus’ Varia Suit.

All of these collaboration items were announced in the past – it’s just a matter of when they’ll be available. Capcom previously released a Link-based equipment set, plus Super Mario Bros. and Sonic-based Palico equipment.

May 1 is just on the horizon, so it shouldn’t be long before we find out if this rumor holds any weight.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

You may recall that a story surfaced in mid-2013 about a cancelled Mega Man X first-person shooter tentatively titled “Maverick Hunter”. This project was being worked on by Armature Studio – a team comprised of staffers who previously worked on Metroid Prime. There were plans for a trilogy, but the game was cancelled in 2010 after just a few months of development.

Maverick Hunter is back in the news today, as new images have been discovered on artist Jaehoon Kim’s website. Take a look at them in the gallery below.

USGamer put up a massive piece that recounts the history of Inti Creates. There are plenty of quotes mixed in from Takuya Aizu, the company’s president.

One of the more interesting topics concerns Mega Man Zero. Aizu first explains how Inti Creates originally wanted to kill off X, but Capcom intervened.

The main concept that we wanted to explore was Zero killing X. We wanted to come up with something really sensational. There was something about Mega Man Zero at first that we felt wasn’t quite right — it wasn’t true to our idea of the character. So we tried to resolve that by coming up with this dramatic concept.

Within the team, there was no resistance at all. In fact, right up until we went to master the game, the plot played out with Zero defeating X. However, Capcom as a company… it didn’t serve well for the company to have a series in which X is the hero and then another title where that same hero gets killed off. And so because of that, at the very, very, very end, like right before we sent the game to be manufactured, we had to change it so that the X that Zero kills was actually a copy. We didn’t have time to change the game play, though, so just the story changed slightly.

New screenshots from The Great Ace Attorney are now available for viewing. Check out the gallery below for the latest set of images.

Capcom has four more Mega Man titles planned for the Wii U Virtual Console as part of “Mega May 2015”. They are as follows:

Mega Man & Bass
Mega Man Battle Network 3 Blue/White
Mega Man Zero 2
Mega Man Battle Network 4 Red Sun / Blue Moon

Each one of these titles is slated for May, but fans can vote on which game they want to see first. Participate in the poll here. According to Capcom, “the winner will appear on the first Thursday of the month, with the rest of the lineup releasing chronologically each week.”
