SteamWorld Dig 2

The European Switch eShop has updated with a listing for SteamWorld Dig 2. It provides us with the final final size. For those who plan on picking up the game later this week, you’ll need just 172MB of free space.

The original SteamWorld Dig was similarly small. On Wii U, the first game was about 220MB.

SteamWorld Dig 2 will be out in North America and Europe on Thursday.

With roughly two weeks to go until release, Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters can now be pre-loaded on the North American 3DS eShop. 21,039 blocks of free space are required for the download. That’s just over 2.5GB.

Pre-loading lets you get ready for launch by purchasing in advance and downloading most game data. Then when Nintendo officially puts the game on the eShop, you’ll only need a small update to begin playing.

Nintendo tends to keep its games relatively small. With Super Mario Odyssey, the trend continues. A listing on Nintendo’s Japanese store shows that just 5.7GB will be required for the digital version.

Other Nintendo-published Switch games are similarly small. ARMS is just 2.2GB and Splatoon 2 is 3.1GB, for instance.

In case you’re curious, Super Mario Odyssey is a bigger than the last Mario 3D outing. On Wii U, Super Mario 3D World is about 1.7GB.

The file size situation surrounding NBA 2K18 on Switch has been a bit confusing. The Japanese Switch eShop initially listed the game for 6.8GB, but was later changed to 22.9GB.

Nintendo’s support site fully explains the situation. Here’s the full breakdown of storage requirements:

Update (9/14): NBA 2K18’s file size has updated on the Switch eShop. It’s now showing 22.9GB. That makes much more sense, and is in line with a rough estimate provided by the developers previously.

Original (9/13): With just a few days to go before launch, NBA 2K18 has been given a listing on the Japanese Switch eShop. We have the game’s file size as a result.

The base download for NBA 2K18 seems to be 6.8GB. However, the listing says that you need more than 6GB of additional storage space. Players are advised to prepare a microSD card (recommend more than 32GB) when you buying the game.

Even with this information, it would be a smaller download than we would have expected for NBA 2K18. We’ll let you know if we receive any further news about NBA 2K18’s storage on Switch.

Footage is here for the new Switch version of Sine Mora EX. Take a look at some footage of the game below.

We also have the file size for Sine Mora EX. On Switch, the game takes up 990MB of space.

It’s not entirely unexpected, but most of the coverage surrounding Fire Emblem Warriors has pertained to the Switch version. The New 3DS version hasn’t been completely forgotten though.

In Japan, the pre-load option for Fire Emblem Warriors on New 3DS has started via the eShop. The game takes up 16,811 blocks of space. In other words, that’s 2.05GB.

We also have screenshots from the New 3DS version of Fire Emblem Warriors below. This is actually one of the first times we’re seeing the game on the handheld (especially with the bottom screen), as it was only shown briefly during the original announcement earlier this year.

Update (9/12): The new date of October 5 is officially confirmed:

Original (9/11): Axiom Verge might be just a few weeks away on Switch. Over on the European eShop, a release date of October 5 is included in a new page listing. For what it’s worth, it’s listed for October 19 on the North American store.

It was announced last week that Axiom Verge’s physical version has been delayed by a couple of weeks. Due to that, the eShop version might be releasing early so that Switch owners interested in a digital copy won’t have to wait too much longer.

In other news, we have the file size for Axiom Verge on Switch. It’ll take up 119MB of space.
