Story of Seasons has sold over 100,000 copies in North America, XSEED Games has announced. It’s the company’s fastest-selling title. It beat out Rune Factory 4 for the latter record, which has gone on to sell more than 160,000 copies in North America.

“We are truly humbled by the outpouring of support for Story of Seasons,” XSEED Games executive vice president Ken Berry said. “We hope to give back to our fans by continuing the magic of Story of Seasons with the recently announced Return to PopoloCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale, which features a heartwarming story based on the Japanese PopoloCrois Story manga series alongside the tried-and-true farming and life simulation elements of Story of Seasons.”

Story of Seasons has seen just under four months of sales. XSEED published the title in North America on March 31.

In an interview with Siliconera, Senran Kagura producer Kenichiro Takaki was asked about the series’ future. He noted that he has “a lot of ideas” that he’s thinking about, but it’s too early to discuss anything at this point. He also spoke about how the series will continue on platforms that it has appeared on previously – meaning 3DS should be in the mix.

According to Takaki:

As of now, we’re not really thinking about expanding to any other platforms. I’m happy continuing to develop for the platforms the series has already showed up on.

Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson will be coming to North America in a few months. When asked his favorite feature, he pointed to the big boss monsters, which is something he’d like to revisit.

One of the things I’m really proud of in that game is that the players can fight against giant boss monsters. For me it actually added a lot to the gameplay, and it’s something I really want to revisit in future titles.

Return to PopoloCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale was the best-selling game in Japan for the week of June 15. In Media Create‘s latest report, the sales tracker shares more information about the game’s performance.

Return to PopoloCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale managed to sell 46,000 copies in its first week. With that, it sold through 58.99 percent of its initial shipment.

When compared to previous Harvest Moon (Bokuj? Monogatari) games on 3DS, the first week sell-through was lower and the game got off to a slow start. Harvest Moon: A New Beginning had a 74.23 percent sell-through rate and sold 81,000 copies in its first week in 2012 while Story of Seasons had a 73.07 percent sell-through rate with 131,000 copies sold in its first week in 2014. As Return to PopoloCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale is strongly derived from the PopoloCrois series, it can be said that the game hasn’t brought in many Harvest Moon fans yet.

Senran Kagura

The Senran Kagura games have typically focused on action. However, producer Kenichiro Takaki is “constantly thinking about different genres” that the series could be involved with as well.

Speaking with Kotaku, Takaki shared some of the ideas that he’s thought about in the past. He brought up a dodgeball game, a pinball game, and even a “water-shooting game”.

Below are Takai’s full comments:

Yeah, as the series goes along, there are a lot more unique characters within it, so I’m constantly thinking about different genres. I always wanted to do a dodgeball game where you hit them and it just rips everything off. A pinball game, or a water-shooting game where they get drenched. I always think of something different. I always want a challenge.
