This week’s issue of Famitsu contains an interview with Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition director Tetsuya Takahashi. In the magazine, it’s mentioned that the new Future Connected takes 10-12 hours to complete the story, though side content can raise that total to 20 hours.
Takahashi said that it would have been possible to extend the length of Future Connected had it been made DLC. However, the development of new titles would be affected if too many resources were used.

We’ve been getting a lot of news about Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, and this week in particular. A bunch of footage appeared online that really gave us a good look at how the Switch release is shaping up.
One of the things we heard about recently is that all voice actors have returned for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. That doesn’t just go for the main game – which was more or less a known factor since the original announcement – but also the brand new Future Connected epilogue.
That’s not the only bit of news we have regarding voice acting. As revealed in a video posted by RogersBase this week, a Nintendo Treehouse rep revealed that Monolith Soft redid the lip syncing. Xenoblade Chronicles is already highly regarded for its voice acting, so this should only make the experience even better.
Thanks to Jake for the tip.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – original voice cast returns, including Jenna Coleman as Melia
Posted on 4 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
It’s pretty clear that Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition uses the voice work from the original Wii title. However, we also know that the game features Future Connected, an entirely new epilogue created specifically for the Switch release. Thankfully, fans can rest easy knowing that all of the original cast returned, including Jenna Coleman – who originally voiced Melia.
When we first heard about Future Connected, it was more or less confirmed that Adam Howden would reprise his role as Shulk, though there was some uncertainty as to who would play Melia. Coleman has had some notable roles in other media since Xenoblade Chronicles launched a decade ago such as Clara Oswald on Doctor Who, so it was anybody’s guess if Nintendo would be able to bring her back. In a preview video with RogersBase, a Nintendo Threehouse representative confirmed that Coleman did in fact return, and that goes for the whole voice cast as well.
You can see that video and a whole bunch of other footage in our roundup here.
