Pokemon

The three new event Pokemon uncovered in Pokemon X/Y weren’t the only recent leaks for the two games. Further digging has been done over the past few days, resulting in interesting findings. Head past the break for the details.

Pokemon president Tsunekazu Ishihara revealed the new Pokemon/Pikachu game on NHK’s “Professional—Style of Work” program. However, the show also featured The Pokemon Company as a whole. Ishihara gave some insight as to how he approaches marketing, making games, and more. You can find a roundup of information, courtesy of Siliconera’s translation, below.

Marketing

– With regards to marketing, Ishihara doesn’t focus much on making something for the purpose of selling
– Instead it’s more of looking into his own “playful heart”
– Ishihara won’t give something the green light unless he’s satisfied with it and thinks it’s entertaining
– Ishihara plays each product thoroughly and makes sure it meets his standards when it comes to entertainment
– This holds true regardless of a product’s marketing size, no matter if it’s a video game or board game
– Sometimes, The Pokemon Company has invested several years and funds into the development of a product, but is turned down at the end
– Ishihara focuses on wanting to bring out something amusing instead of the product’s look and ability to sell

“I believe that when the makers get tired or bored of making, that’s when it should immediately be stopped. I believe that losing your feeling of wanting to present something to the world, or the passion you have for it, is the worst possible scenario.”

Ken Sugimori, art director for the Pokemon franchise, spoke about the seventh generation Pokemon in an interview with “We Love Pokémon”. Various bits from the magazine have now been translated.

Sugimori told the magazine – when asked about the next generation Pokemon titles assuming there are plans to make more games, and we all know there are – that Game Freak will revert back to simplicity rather than making things more complex. The team will do so in part by taking advantage of elements found in Pokemon Red/Green.

There are now a ton of different moves, abilities, items, and more to keep track of due to how many generations of Pokemon games we’ve seen so far. Therefore, Sugimori says some fans have said it may be for the best to organize/trim these aspects.

Another detail from Sugimori concerns the designs. They could probably be simplified as well, Sugimori believes.

And last but not least, what’s Sugimori’s favorite Pokemon? That would be Gengar!

Screenshots of three brand new Pokemon have apparently leaked online. The images, showcasing the never-before-scene creatures, were allegedly uncovered after digging around Pokemon X/Y’s data. All three are said to be tied to upcoming events in the 3DS games.

Head past the break for all of the screenshots.

Siliconera has posted a write-up of of NHK’s “Professional—Style of Work” program that aired earlier this week, where Pokemon president and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara shared the first details about the new Pokemon game starring Pikachu as a detective partner. You can find a few more bits below, as well as images above.

– The new Pokemon game is a huge project
– Solve mysteries and use deductive reasoning
– Pokemon devs are working on new ideas to separate the game from other titles involving detectives and mystery solving
– Will be made so that a younger audience can enjoy
– As mentioned previously, Pikachu will talk
– First time Pikachu will speak
– Pikachu will have lines that are more suited for an adult
– Example of the above: “…Oh, they’re just beauties [girls]”
– Pikachu will also have other hard-boiled lines to fit a detective persona
– Example of the above: “If this keeps up, we’ll have a bag made from Pikachu…”
– Having Pikachu talk was a decision Ishihara and the other staff members spent a long time mulling over
– They first thought it would be impossible and a risky proposal
– Ater telling them “let’s make this happen,” Ishihara and the others decided to go with it
– The staff are surprised in the possibilities of all the different facial expressions motion-capture affords
– Motion-capture is being used to have Pikachu show more personality

A brand new Pokemon title has been revealed through the latest episode of NHK’s “Professional—Style of Work” program. Details are still coming in, but it’s a detective title that has players partnering with Pikachu.

The unnamed game’s total development is expected to be two years, according to The Pokemon Company president Tsunekaz Ishihara. In it, players will encounter a rare Pikachu, which is apparently the enemy players will take on, and Ishihara believes that people won’t end up liking it. Also planned for the game: a blue Pikachu and a talking Pikachu.

The new title is due out sometime in 2015.

We’ll bring you more as it comes.

Tsunekaz Ishihara, president and CEO of The Pokemon Company, considered making a sequel to Pokemon Trozei. Ishihara revealed the news through NHK’s “Professional—Style of Work” program currently airing in Japan, but didn’t say if it’s something that’s actually in development.

Pokemon Trozei was released as a DS game several years ago. It wasn’t a traditional Pokemon title, with puzzle gameplay taking the focus.
