Youkai Watch 2 pre-orders topped 800,000 units as of last week
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 12 Comments
Youkai Watch 2 is expected to be a huge seller for Level-5. And based on pre-order data, that definitely seems to be the case.
Media Create reveals that pre-orders for Youkai Watch 2 were initially at 786,000 units before climbing to 814,000 copies. That number could have been even higher given continued inquiries from consumers, but the game sold out before launch and retailers closed reservations.
Media Create anticipates that Youkai Watch 2 will be Japan’s first million-seller of 2014.

Ubisoft published the graphic above as part of its latest financial results. Unsurprisingly, Nintendo systems encompass just a small fraction of the company’s sales. That can be attributed to, at least partially, a lack of releases on Nintendo platforms.

Retro City Rampage WiiWare sales still have a ways to go before Vblank can earn revenue
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii Shop Channel | 10 Comments
Vblank Entertainment shared a sales update on Retro City Rampage’s WiiWare version yesterday while also asking fans for their support.
Unlike the eShop, Nintendo implemented much stricter rules on the Wii Shop Channel. These harsh guidelines extend to payments for developers. According to Vblank, Retro City Rampage is still 750 units away in North America (850 units in Europe) from reaching the threshold needed for the studio to receive revenue from the WiiWare version. WiiWare titles need to hit a certain number of sales in their first two years before developers are compensated, and at this rate, Vblank believes this will be tough to accomplish with Retro City Rampage.
Vblank wrote on Facebook:
Thanks to Ryan M for the tip.
