Splatoon 2

Yesterday we heard about a new Splatfest for Splatoon 2 in Japan. But strangely, this apparently wasn’t intended to be the new topic.

Nintendo said on the Japanese Splatoon Twitter page that the information only went out to certain users. Those who already signed up for the Splatfest – which was incorrect – will have their t-shirts returned. We’ll also be hearing about the next proper Splatfest for Japan towards the end of this week.

North America is the only region where a third Splatfest hasn’t been announced. In Europe, a toilet roll-themed event will be held next weekend.

The next European Splatfest has been announced for Europe, and the topic at hand is quite… interesting. Players are being asked about which position they prefer the toilet roll to be hanging.

Europe’s new Splatfest will be taking place during the weekend of October 7. The event will take place for a full day as usual.

For now, we’ve not yet heard about the next North American Splatfest. We’ll keep you updated if any news comes in.

Music is an important part of Splatoon 2, and Nintendo is recognizing that on the series’ official Twitter account. The company introduced fans to the band ω-3 (Omega Three) today. They’re responsible for the music in Salmon Run.

We’re expecting Nintendo to provide an official translation soon, but the main point here is that the band consists of three members. A cello player, drummer, and DJ are all a part of the group.

Japan is getting two pieces of Splatoon 2 merchandise in November that are sure to be extremely popular: the official soundtrack (Splatune 2) and an art book.

The soundtrack will feature all songs from the game in addition to various sound effects and jingles. It will also come with a jacket for each of the in-universe bands, a roundtable discussion with Wet Floor (one of those bands), an interview with Marina, comments from the developers as well as a Splatoon-themed guitar pick. The soundtrack will cost 3,200 Yen.

The art book obviously features a ton of art from the game, including character design concept art, fashion design sketches, logos and more. Here are some preview images:
