During today’s “Dragon Quest XI S Channel: Cast Announcement Feature #1” live stream, Square Enix revealed another set of actors for the Switch RPG.

The lineup is as follows:

Square Enix is gearing up for its first broadcast dedicated to the Switch version of Dragon Quest X, otherwise known as Dragon Quest XI S. It’s just a few days away – January 25.

The event will be held at the following times:

Late last week, Square Enix filed trademarks for “HD-2D” and “HD2D” in Europe. Octopath Traveler has been connected to the term as a way of describing the RPG’s art style. Based on the trademark, Square Enix could be interested in creating additional titles with the same look.

Octopath Traveler producer Tomoya Asano mentioned last June that “Square Enix has decided that it wants to focus on original titles for the Switch.” He also teased, “There are several other titles that we’re currently working on for Switch. If you could just wait a bit longer, we’ll work with Nintendo and announce them in the future.”

Those who are interested in the physical version of Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster may want to keep something in mind. Over on the European Square Enix store, the second game is listed as a separate download. The page states that Final Fantasy X HD Remaster is “available on game card” while Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster “is download only.” It sounds like the package will include a voucher to obtain the second title digitally.

Square Enix actually did something similar for the PS Vita version of Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster. The first game was playable on the cartridge, but X-2 required a separate download.

Note, however, that official plans for the Switch release have not been officially announced, so there’s a small possibility that what’s mentioned on the store is inaccurate. We’ll try to get an official comment from Square Enix about the situation.

We’ve seen some folks asking about the status of Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age in Europe. Fortunately, just like in North America and Japan, both will be seeing a physical release in the region. Amazon UK actually started taking pre-orders for both this week here.

Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster launches for Switch on April 16. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age follows on April 30.

Not too long ago, Virtuos announced some news that slipped under the radar. The developer has confirmed that it is working on both Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age for Switch. This isn’t too big of a surprise given that Virtuos previously handled these re-releases for Square Enix.

Virtuos is also a good fit for Switch development. The company helped bring over L.A. Noire and Dark Souls: Remastered, and also served as the lead on Starlink: Battle for Atlas for Nintendo’s console.

Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age were both dated for Switch this week. The west are getting the RPGs on April 16 and April 30 respectively while Japan will have them on April 11 and April 25. Coinciding with the latest news, we have a look at the Japanese boxarts for both titles.

First up, here’s the one for Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster:

During a Nintendo Direct in September, Square Enix announced plans to bring a bunch of Final Fantasy games to Switch. Some of these were given release dates today.

Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster will launch on Switch on April 16. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will follow on April 30.

To celebrate today’s news for The Zodiac Age, artist Akihiko Yoshida has created a special image. We have it above.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 ended up selling roughly 200,000 copies in its first week, according to Media Create. The sales split between the Switch and PlayStation 4 versions were pretty similar, with Nintendo’s console just slightly behind. Dengeki adds that Dragon Quest Builders 2 sold through 50% of its initial shipment in Japan.

How does that stack up to the original? Well, it’s a bit difficult to compare since the first entry in the Dragon Quest Builders series came out on Switch well long after the initial release. However, the original title did end up selling 368,000 copies in its first week on the PlayStation 4, so Dengeki feels that initial sales are a bit on the slow side. We’ll hopefully see things pick up for the year-end and New Year sales.

Square Enix held a stage show for Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy at Jump Festa 2019, which came with a new round of footage. Check out the full recording below.
