It’s officially been two years since we first found out about the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Fans were treated to a new trailer today, but we’re not any closer to learning what the actual title is.
Regarding why Nintendo hasn’t shared the official name yet, Nintendo Treehouse’s Bill Trinen told IGN:

It’s been two years since Nintendo first unveiled the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and we haven’t seen it since. Series producer Eiji Aonuma promised news for 2021 earlier this year, and during today’s E3 2021 Nintendo Direct, a status update was finally provided.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will launch in 2022. Watch a new trailer below.
Xbox expected Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and more to release in 2020

A number of high-profile Switch games currently lack release dates. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 4, and Shin Megami Tensei V are all on the horizon, but there’s no word on when they’ll be available.
There’s an interesting bit of news concerning these titles stemming from the Epic vs. Apple trial. An internal document from Xbox surfaced today, which contains a rough outline of “high-profile” Xbox One releases for the Q3 and Q4 2020 period in addition to Microsoft’s expectations of notable releases from other companies. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 4, and Shin Megami Tensei V are all here, with Microsoft believing as of last August that they could have launched between October and December.
Nintendo marketing pamphlet contains Breath of the Wild 2 blurb, Link and Zelda “deep within the caverns beneath Hyrule Castle”
Posted on 3 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
Update: It’s been spotted that the pamphlet was first released towards the end of 2019, and was published by GamesRadar. We apologize for any confusion.
Original: Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 was announced at E3 back in June 2019, but hasn’t been seen since then. While Nintendo only shared a brief trailer at the time, that was enough for plenty of fan speculation.
A big part of the video showcases Link and Zelda in an underground area. Many naturally assumed that the location was below Hyrule Castle, and this has now been spotted in an official Nintendo marketing pamphlet. According to that pamphlet, the two characters are “deep within” the caverns below the castle where “a new and powerful threat awakens.”
The Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 note states:
Aonuma says it’ll be “a bit longer” before Nintendo shares more Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 news

Nintendo announced a sequel to Zelda: Breath of the Wild more than a year ago, but we haven’t heard about the project since. Series producer Eiji Aonuma did at least provide a status update as part of today’s announcement for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
Aonuma stated:

Nintendo hasn’t had anything to say about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s sequel since it was announced last year. However, a new collector’s edition listing has now appeared from a European retailer and some are hoping it’s a sign of news to come.
The listing comes from WT&T, a retailer that actually leaked The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Switch. A standard version is included alongside the collector’s edition. They’re priced at €69.99 and €82.85 respectively.
Here’s a look at the collector’s edition listing:
Rumor: Spanish voice actors for Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 indicate their work is already done

Update: Despite GameReactor’s report in native Spanish (which was written by one of the outlet’s Spanish editors), it seems that the site may have been reaching. Numerous GameXplain viewers have indicated that the discussion was more of the voice actors joking around about embargos, and was taken out of context. GameReactor’s original report has also been updated to reflect this.
Original: Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 just over a year ago. But given the silence since then, fans have been hoping to receive any sort of update pertaining to the game.
One possible hint regarding the project’s status may have come about thanks to comments from its Spanish voice actors. Marc Navarro and Nerea Alfonso, who voice Revali and Zelda respectively, indicated that their work has already wrapped up.

In an interview with Kotaku, Zelda producer Aonuma shared the following:
