Nintendo has updated the official Mario Kart 8 website with first details regarding the game’s amiibo functionality.

According to the site, players will be able to dress their Mii characters in racing suits based on the different looks of the amiibo characters. The feature will be possible with an update scheduled to be released November 13 – next Thursday.

The Mario Kart 8 amiibo page seems to be a bit broken at the moment, so it’s possible that this information wasn’t intended to be revealed just yet. Maybe we’ll see an official announcement during tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct!

The WiiWare version of Retro City Rampage will soon be updated with “DX” content. All missions have been tweaked, which extends to vehicles, weapons, challenges, visual effects, visual enhancements, checkpoints, difficulty, and challenges. Enhancements have been made to the core gameplay as well as smaller elements such as parking garages and waypoints.

Once the “DX” content is released, Retro City Rampage on WiiWare will be in line with the other versions of the game – mostly anyway. Only HD video filters and zoom modes will be missing. The Wii Remote, Classic Controller and GameCube Controller will all be supported, and there’s an optional “shake” gesture exclusive to the Wii Remote.

Retro City Rampage has also been rated in Australia in New Zealand, so the game should be out in these territories soon. Meanwhile, look forward to the “DX” update in other regions on November 13.

Update: Serebii’s initial report was a bit incorrect. Here’s some clarification about the situation:

Following the release of the Version 1.3 patch last night, one of the small features that have been added has been confirmed. In addition to various bugfixes, such as a fix regarding Vivillon’s image not properly appearing in Friend Safari’s menus, the patch now fixes various special animations for when PokéBalls open on trying to capture a Pokémon or sending one in battle. Previously, these animations could be seen in battle, but not when you sent out your first Pokémon. Now, these will always appear when they are your first Pokémon sent in battle

Pokemon X/Y’s 1.3 update adds a small touch. PokeBalls open and display special animations when trying to capture a Pokemon or sending Pokemon into battle. Dream Balls and Cherish Balls had separate animations previously, though all except Apricorn Balls now appear to have new animations.
