Little Goody Two Shoes review

System: Switch
Release date: October 31, 2023
Developer: Astral Shift
Publisher: Square Enix Collective

Little Goody Two Shoes is the first game I’ve experienced that truly feels like a fairy-tale story come to life, and I’m not talking the family-friendly Disney variety. The quaint countryside village of Kieferburg may seem like your average sing-songy folk town at the surface, but murmurs of a witch in the woods and strange happenings nearby have residents becoming paranoid. To make matters worse, protagonist Elise is getting caught up in the middle of it all, after a strange supernatural encounter promises to grant her her life’s wish if she manages to complete strange tasks before the end of the week. What follows is a tense, often funny narrative adventure that frequently had me on the edge of my seat, even when the tedium of its time-management gameplay began wearing on my patience.

Indie World November 2023

A new Indie World Showcase will air tomorrow, November 14, Nintendo just announced. It will air at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM in the UK / 6 PM in Europe.

We’ve seen a number of these presentations throughout Switch’s lifecycle. For tomorrow’s event, Nintendo has promised a presentation covering new announcements and updates on indie games for the platform. Expect it to last around 20 minutes.

super mario bros music

NHK published an interview with Koji Kondo, who has been composing music for the Super Mario Bros. games since the very first entry on the NES. The discussion delved into various topics including his work on the first title, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and more.

Given how rare it is to see Kondo involved with such an in-depth interview, we went ahead and translated the full talk. You can read it below.

Nintendo dropped some news out of nowhere late on Tuesday that it’s moving forward with a live-action movie based on The Legend of Zelda. We don’t have many details just yet, but Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad will act as producers. Nintendo and Arad Productions will be producing it together while Sony Pictures Entertainment is involved with financing. In case you missed it, we have the full news here.

Rather than going the animated route as we saw with Super Mario, Zelda will be the first live-action Nintendo movie of the modern era. And since we know so little about it, that leaves for plenty of speculation.

Would you like to see the movie adapt the story of a specific game? Who do you think should be cast as Link? Let us know in the comments.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe version 3.0.0 balance changes

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe brought along its version 3.0.0 update this week with Wave 6 of the Booster Course DLC, and while Nintendo’s patch notes covered some other aspects we weren’t originally expecting, balance changes have been discovered. Fans have gotten to work to see what changed with vehicles. We also have tidbits about new characters Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, Pauline, and Peachette.

Mario Kart Blog was the first to post about the balance changes. Meester_Tweester then compiled everything into a readable format for English fans.

Super Mario RPG developer Unity

Just a few days before launch, new information has surfaced for Super Mario RPG, including the developer behind the project and the engine that was used.

Square Enix was the developer for original game on the SNES. For the remake on Switch though, it’s been a bit of a question mark as to who’s actually behind the project. Now that pre-loading has started, we have a bit of insight.

Hogwarts Legacy gameplay

We finally have a proper look at the Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy with several minutes of gameplay that surfaced just a few days before launch.

Even though we’ve known that the title would be on Nintendo’s console for about a year, Warner Bros. has shown almost nothing from the Switch version. Some screenshots were shared as part of the eShop listing and a trailer was published yesterday – though the latter didn’t show any sort of gameplay.

Zelda movie Shigeru Miyamoto

Shigeru Miyamoto has commented further on the recently-announced live-action movie based on The Legend of Zelda. This comes as part of a Q&A session that took place during Nintendo’s financial results briefing this week.

Miyamoto previously indicated that the project has been in the works for many years, but he has since clarified that he’s been talking with Avi Arad for about ten years. He also spoke about taking the proper time to create something Nintendo is satisfied with.
