Xenoblade Chronicles X director Tetsuya Takahashi has shared more about the game on the official Japanese Twitter account. He spoke about art designers Takayuki Yanase and Kouichi Mugitani as well as the title’s Dolls.

First, here’s Takahashi on Yanase:

“Mr. Yanase is a well-known designer that has worked on Gundam 00 among other things. The concept for the Dolls in this project was that one single convertible frame be able to transform into several vehicles, so I asked for his help, knowing that he would be able to realize that [concept]. If I recall correctly, I asked for his help around the time that Kotobukiya announced its new plastic model “Frame Arms Series.”

Update: The “Master Quest” portion of The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses is actually planned worldwide. You’ll notice that some of the locations include Boston and even Japan.

Plus, we now have Nintendo’s North American announcement – find that after the break. We learn that Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Majora’s Mask

The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses – Master Quest is kicking off in Europe next year.

Nintendo just announced the news through a message published on its Twitter account a short while ago.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U appears to be causing major issues for some users.

Players have encountered error code 160-0103, which may be caused by the game’s update data. The error seems to occur at random points though some say it happens after playing For Glory and booting the Wii U again.

Error code 160-0103 may stem from update data created by Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. While all other parts of the console can be accessed, the real trouble begins when launching Smash or the Data Management page.

Opening the latter results in error code 160-1710. After seeing this code, Wii U owners have encountered issues like complete Wii U memory wipes and bricked systems.

Those who came across the original error are apparently advised to format their systems. However, they’re then presented with the second error code with no option but to send in their console to Nintendo.

Despite all of these issues, Nintendo is said to be working on a fix.

Like Fred Durst, our series of “Best of DS” lists keeps on rollin’ with a double feature of the top five most under-appreciated and disappointing titles on the console. Let’s start off with the good and recognise the games that might have scored well with critics, but fell under the radar for whatever reason.

Even though I’m happy with the games you guys picked, the “most under-appreciated” might also be the “most unnecessary” list, because how do you use a popularity contest to determine if something is the most under-appreciated? Of course, the deepest cuts were the ones that didn’t get enough votes to make the list so consider the real victors to be Bangai-O Spirits and Kira Kira: Pop Princess:

alistdaily has a new interview up with Scott Moffitt, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America. You can find the full discussion here, though there are a couple of noteworthy excerpts that we’ve highlighted below.

On the topic of how eSports has played in the success of Super Smash Bros., Moffitt said:

There does seem to be a ton of pent-up demand for this franchise. ESports has helped to rekindle gamers’ love for this franchise and really prepare the environment for a fantastic launch. I do believe that the record sales are due to a lot of the pre-awareness activity that has gone on, including eSports. The 3DS game also helped satisfy gamers’ demand temporarily before the Wii U game. ESports is one of the things that has helped drive the pre-launch excitement for this game to a fever pitch.

Moffitt also said the following on how the Nintendo gaming audience differs from that of Sony and Microsoft:

A few more updates hit the Japanese Xenoblade Chronicles X Twitter account today. Director Tetsuya Takahashi shared news about a pair of artists working on the game.

Siliconera provides the following translations:

“First up, Mr. Takayuki Yanase. He always manages to give shape to the exact image I communicate, so I have faith in him. For this game, too, he’s created some very cool Dolls (robots).”

“Then there’s Mr. Kouichi Mugitani. Xeno fans already know him, though. Naturally, I’ve asked for his help as a core member of the staff.”

For those wondering, Yanase has worked on Ghost in the Shell: Arise, Tenkai Knights, and Metal Gear Rising. On Rising, Yanase did mechanical designs.

Mugitani’s previous works include production designer on Xenosaga I, Xenosaga II, and Xenosaga III. He also provided character illustrations for Xenosaga III.

The Legend of Zelda Wii U

The last Zelda game, Skyward Sword, featured visuals inspired by impressionistic paintings. The new Zelda game for Wii U also takes inspiration from another source.

Producer Eiji Aonuma told Famitsu in an interview earlier this month:

“Everyone has been imitating this (snaps fingers) (laughs). I was told by many people that it was ‘beautiful.’ I thought about various ways to make the graphical style fit the vast new Zelda world; imitating the real world attached an important feeling of realism, and making it look different to the past [Zelda titles], this was done by drawing inspiration from Japanese animations.”

We’ll next be seeing Zelda Wii U at next year’s E3. The game itself is expected to launch sometime in 2015.
