Nintendo Switch 2 to support backwards compatibility, Switch Online
Posted on 5 months ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch, Switch 2 | 0 comments
Nintendo just gave an update on Switch 2 during its Corporate Management Policy Briefing. According to president Shuntaro Furukawa, backwards compatibility is planned – meaning you’ll be able to play current Switch software on the system. Furthermore, Nintendo Switch Online will be extended to the new platform.
In hindsight, both of these elements feel like fairly obvious inclusions. For one thing, Nintendo has looked to continually increase the appeal of Switch Online over the years with additional benefits, including last week’s launch of Nintendo Music. Also, while there have been some exceptions, Nintendo has been known for its backwards compatibility functionality with many of its devices.

Alongside Nintendo’s financial results for November 2024, as usual, the company put out its latest release schedule. The graphic highlights upcoming Switch games the company will be publishing.
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, which was a surprise announcement last week, now appears on the schedule. Other games like Metroid Prime 4 are also included. The calendar is certainly smaller than it used to be – it doesn’t help that third-party games are no longer listed which is something that Nintendo often did in the past.
In any case, here’s the complete schedule:

Developer: GSC Game World / Mataboo

As a platform, the Switch has treated us to some serious wildcard franchise appearances over the last seven years. Few would have bet in 2017 that the hybrid console’s library would eventually be bolstered by almost every Saints Row, Sniper Elite, Metal Gear Solid, and Resident Evil game – to name but a few. However, here we are, being machine-gunned with ports and re-releases that continuously cement the Switch’s status as a Nintendo all-timer. As if our collective Switch-port bingo cards weren’t already full to the brim, GSC Gameworks have emerged forth, bringing the entire S.T.A.L.K.E.R trilogy lovingly nestled under their arm. Hang on – what?

NIS explains why a new Phantom Brave was made after 20 years

Nippon Ichi Software surprised fans earlier in the year by announcing Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, which means the original game is finally getting a sequel after twenty years. In a recent interview, the company explained how it came to be.
Interestingly, it sounds like NIS didn’t really attempt making a sequel previously. Things were only set in motion after a western poll showed the popularity of Phantom Brave’s characters.

According to comments from former Nintendo of America employees, there was “a lot of drama” and “headbutting” surrounding the Switch reveal video, including from people high up at the company.
The video we’re referring to is the one that came out eight years ago, giving everyone a first glimpse at the system. It showed various scenarios and ways in which Switch can be played. The video brought us the well-known “Karen” rooftop meme, showed a glimpse of Super Mario Odyssey for the first time, and more.

This was a bit of a strange week for Nintendo news. Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition was announced out of nowhere, and then on Wednesday, the Nintendo Music app / service was announced.

Over time, more will be added. Nintendo also included some features to make the app a little more interesting. We covered it all here.
Super Mario Party Jamboree review
Posted on 5 months ago by Nicholas Serpa in Reviews, Switch | 0 comments
System: Switch
Release date: October 17, 2024
Developer: NDcube
Publisher: Nintendo
Like clockwork, roughly about every three years, Nintendo releases a new Mario Party game. That may seem like a lot, but it’s easy to forget that that for most of the series’ life these titles were getting cranked out on an annual basis. Nowadays though, Nintendo is spending more time and resources on these games than ever before – and it shows. While 2021’s Mario Party Superstars felt like a refreshing trip down memory lane, Super Mario Party Jamboree raises the bar for the series on multiple levels, from its clever and dynamic game boards to its robust suite of online options and modes. My nostalgia for the older entries aside, this one represents easily some of the most fun I’ve ever had in a Mario Party game, and it’s secured a spot as my new go-to title for multiplayer madness on the. Switch Lite players will want to pause before picking this game up – but everyone else has a lot to look forward to.
