SteamWorld Quest will be receiving a physical release sometime after the eShop launch, but it’s not yet clear when that will be happening.

Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk

This week’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation has announced Labyrinth of Galleria: Coven of Dusk, a followup to the dungeon RPG Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk.

Only a few details have leaked from Dengeki PlayStation have leaked thus far. Here’s what we know:

WayForward is developing Shantae 5, the studio just announced. The game will be released on Switch later this year.

Unfortunately, not much is known at present. WayForward only mentions that Shantae 5 will offer “a brand-new adventure.”

A listing on the eShop reveals that Cel Damage HD is coming to Switch. Even better, it’s due out in just a few days – March 28.

Cel Damage originally landed on the GameCube in 2002. The vehicle combat title offers single-player and multiplayer, a trio of game mores, and more.

Duck Game

Two years after it was announced, Duck Game has finally been dated for Switch. A listing on the eShop shows a release date of May 2.

We have the following overview and trailer for the game:

SNK and Athlon Games have announced that the new weapon-based fighter Samurai Shodown will be coming to Switch. The game is initially launching in June, but won’t be appearing on Nintendo’s console until Q4 2019.

Samurai Shodown is powered by Unreal Engine 4 and “reboots the classic 2D fighting game with beautiful new 3D graphics that retain the classic fantasy Samurai manga look of the series, while also bringing the series up-to-date with the latest cutting edge graphical standards.” Here’s some further information and a trailer:

System: Switch (eShop)
Release date: March 20, 2019
Developer: Inti Creates
Publisher: Inti Creates

In March 2017, one week after the release of the Switch, developer Inti Creates and Sunsoft unknowingly kicked off the “Metroidvania on Switch” phenomenon by releasing Blaster Master Zero to an almost empty eShop. The game served as a modern reimagining of the much loved NES classic, and was well-received by fans and newcomers alike for adhering to the source material albeit through a more modern lens. Since then we’ve had genre defining releases like Dead Cells and The Messenger along with countless other interpretations of the formula compete for our attention. It’s fair to say that if you’re a fan of Metroidvanias, then you’ve probably been spending more time on your Switch than you’d like to admit. In the hope that lightning does indeed strike twice and to capitalize on a booming trend, Inti Creates and Sunsoft have now seen fit to grace us with a wholly original sequel, Blaster Master Zero 2.

Hello, you cupheads and mugmen! This week on NEP, we’ve got a special feature on Nindies Showcase and all the surprises and goodness it had for us! We also talk more in-depth about Nintendo Labo’s VR Kit and the extended gameplay Nintendo just put out on their YouTube. Come have a chill time with us.

Thank you for all of your support and for sharing the podcast with others. We’re growing at a great pace, and it’s all thanks to you as listeners! Check below for more details!

This week’s Nindies Showcase ended in a surprising way. Who could have seen a new Crypt of the NecroDancer game coming that stars The Legend of Zelda? But that’s exactly what we’re getting with Cadence of Hyrule – Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring the Legend of Zelda (certainly a long title, isn’t it?).

Cadence of Hyrule is in many ways a landmark game. We haven’t really seen Nintendo offer up one of its IPs to an indie developer before. This sort of announcement makes you wonder what else could be possible in the future. Now that the gates have opened, what types of collaborations would you like to see between Nintendo and other indie titles in the future? What would be the game and who would be the developer? Let us know about the ideas you have in the comments below.
