Rumor: Nintendo “deep in conversation” with multiple studios about making games based on its franchises

According to a report from GamesIndustry, Nintendo has been exploring partnerships with new studios that will make games based on its IPs.
This in itself is nothing new. Nintendo’s partnerships with third-parties have been ongoing for many years such as MercurySteam taking on 2D Metroid, WayForward handling the Advance Wars remakes for Switch, and even lending the Zelda IP to Brace Yourself Games for Cadence of Hyrule. However, GamesIndustry reports that three studios are now “deep in conversation around making games based on Nintendo brands.”

Silent Hope devs on sequel interest

Could Silent Hope get a sequel in the future? That’s something a couple of the game’s developers touched on in a recent interview.
Producer Makoto Shioda and Moribo both seem interested in a follow-up, and they expressed as such while speaking with Nintendo Dream. Multiplayer is something that could end up in a new game as that unfortunately didn’t make it into the final version.
Shioda and Moribo said the following when asked about a possible Silent Hope sequel:

December 20: It’s been a long time coming, but El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron HD Remaster now has a release date on Switch. Rainy Frog announced today that the game launches on April 28, 2024.
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron HD Remaster is an updated version of the 2011 game. The Switch version was announced in April 2022, and there have been few updates since then.

Nintendo on how Mario Wonder characters were decided, scrapped Yoshi mechanic

The developers behind Super Mario Bros. Wonder have commented on how the game’s characters were decided and also revealed a mechanic for Yoshi that was ultimately scrapped.

Shigeru Miyamoto just celebrated his 71st birthday last month, but retirement still doesn’t seem to be on his mind.
Miyamoto, the creator of hit franchises like Mario and The Legend of Zelda, was asked if he’s ever tempted to retire in an interview with The Guardian. He’s spent well over four decades working at Nintendo.
