They have now answered many of the questions in a video, which you can watch below. They touch on inspiration for Alola forms, the setting, and the starters, as well as who their personal favorite new Pokemon are and noting that the series could journey to Australia some day, due to its diverse wildlife.

Rumor: Super Smash Bros. port coming to Switch, timed with remaining Smash amiibo
Posted on 8 years ago by Jake in Rumors, Switch | 82 Comments
Update: Laura also states that there is no information on GameCube controller support.
Laura Kate Dale, who has provided numerous reports on the Switch, has stated that there is a port of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U coming to the Switch. She notes that the port is not targeting a release window, but rather the first six months of the console. She also states that the remaining Smash Bros. series amiibo (specifying Cloud and Bayonetta) will be releasing around the same time as the port. She did not provide any information on if the port would include any new content such as characters, so that much is up for even more speculation.

In an interview with Maxi-Geek, Tantalus Media CEO Tom Crago stated that his studio has been working on projects for the Switch. According to Crago, the studio, which developed The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, has been working on unannounced titles “for some time”. Crago also stated that Nintendo has made the development process “friendly and systematic,” and that he is personally excited for the Switch’s portability. He also suggested that, if Nintendo fans have any particular titles that they want to see ported, that they should suggest them through Tantalus’s Facebook page.
The full interview can be read here. Crago teased that there would be news soon, but for now we can only wait and speculate what they might be working on.
