Nintendo on challenges of increasing screen size for Switch OLED

Nintendo’s new Switch OLED model increases the system’s screen size. Rather than 6.2 inches, it’s now at 7 inches. That may not seem much, but it does make quite a bit of difference, and offering a larger screen wasn’t an easy task.
Ko Shiota, the head of the Technology Development Division, as well as Toru Yamashita of the Technology Development Department, discussed the Switch OLED screen size increase and the challenges involved as part of an interview published by Nintendo today. Yamashita pointed out that the difficulty came from “trying to increase the screen size while maintaining the console’s size and product strength.”

We’ve seen the original Switch, the Switch Lite, and now the Switch OLED. Everyone will be able to pick up the system as of tomorrow, October 8.
In an official interview published by Nintendo today, key developers behind the console spoke about the console’s origins. Ko Shiota, the head of the Technology Development Division, as well as Toru Yamashita of the Technology Development Department both weighed in.

Regency Solitaire heading to Switch this month

After a strong reception on PC, Regency Solitaire is making the jump to Switch. Developer Grey Alien Games has announced that it will have a new version ready to go for the console on October 19.
Regency Solitaire has players taking on the role of Bella, a charming high-society girl who must win back her family’s wealth after her brother, Edward, gambled it all away. At the same time, she’ll be looking to take charge of her own destiny and avoid an arranged marriage with the odious Mr. Bleakley.
Metroid Dread holographic foil poster set added to My Nintendo

My Nintendo has just added a new Metroid Dread holographic foil poster set for its North American users. It can be ordered now for 1,000 points. The size comes in at 11.75″ x 18″.
Both posters feature key art from the game. Samus is shown in both images, with the Chozo featured in one and E.M.M.I. in the other.

Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality release date moved to October 14, new trailer

Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality has a new release date. It was previously planned for September 30, but will now launch on October 14. BBC Studios and Maze Theory shared the news today.
Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality is a first-person sci-fi adventure game that puts the focus on story, puzzles and exploration. It expands upon the original story from VR adventure Doctor Who: The Edge of Time with the guidance of familiar characters: the Thirteenth Doctor (voiced by Jodie Whittaker) and the Tenth Doctor (voiced by David Tennant).

Rune Factory 5 limited edition revealed for North America and Europe

XSEED and Marvelous today unveiled a limited edition for Rune Factory 5 in North America (known as the “Earthmate Edition in the states) and Europe.

Puzzle-platformer Monomals reaching Switch this month

Monomals, a puzzle-platformer that previously appeared on Apple Arcade, is now coming to Switch. Publisher Rogue Games and developer PICOMY announced that the title will be available on October 21.
The premise behind Monomals is that a big music contest is taking place amongst the world’s best animal DJs. Players can choose from a variety of DJs, each with a different style of music. The primary goal is to gather the melodious Monomals and then create music with them in a quest to become the greatest animal DJ.
