Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

A couple of weeks ago, we translated a short developer interview for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity published in Famitsu. Since then, the Japanese magazine actually shared a follow-up discussion that is significantly more in-depth.

The interview again featured producer Yosuke Hayashi and director Ryouta Matsushita as well as Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma. The three developers talked about various topics such as the Zelda team’s supervision, making the story, incorporating Breath of the Wild elements (like the graphics and gameplay elements), and much more. We’ve once again prepared a full translation, which you can read below.

A new month rolled right on in this week. Now that we’re in December, we want to know what you’ve been playing.

Have you been playing through Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity? What about recent third-party games like Immortals Fenyx Rising, Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack, or Empire of Sin? No matter the case, let us know in the comments below.

Splatoon 2 North American Open December 2020

The Splatoon 2 North American Open December 2020 is taking place this weekend. Originally, Nintendo intended to host an official live stream for the finals, which are set to take place tomorrow. That will no longer be happening.

The situation seems to be a continuation of what transpired last month with Super Smash Bros. Melee. The Big House, a prominent tournament, was forced to scrap its online event following a cease desist from Nintendo. The company said the tournament would have required “use of illegally copied versions of the game” and a mod known as “Slippi”.

Persona 5 Strikers

Dragalia Lost has had a few crossovers, ranging from Fire Emblem to Monster Hunter. Persona may be next – specifically Persona 5 Strikers.

One of the latest Dragalia Lost updates was datamined this week. After picking apart the latest files, fans then came across content for Persona 5 Strikers characters. The lineup includes:

A familiar face will be appearing at The Game Awards 2020. Reggie Fils-Aime, former president of Nintendo of America, is confirmed to be a presenter.

Several other presenters have also been confirmed over the past few days. The lineup includes actors Tom Holland, Gal Gadot, and Brie Larson, sports personality Stephen A. Smith, and even Swedish Chef from The Muppets.

The Game Awards 2020 kicks off on December 10 at 3:30 PM PT / 6:30 PM ET / 11:30 PM in the UK / 12:30 AM in Europe (December 11). We’ll share the live stream before the show starts and will have any notable news up on the site throughout the event.

Doom Eternal

If everything had gone as planned, Doom Eternal would have launched on Switch a year ago. The game was originally planned for release on all platforms in November 2019. It was pushed to March 2020 on most systems, but the Switch version has long been missing in action. Now after a lengthy wait, it’s almost here and is scheduled for December 8.

We recently had the chance to speak with senior producer Cody Nicewarner and lead engineer Travis Archer at Panic Button about the new Switch version of Doom Eternal. When asked why the port took longer than some may have been expected, the two developers said:
