Two more games debuted in the UK last week: Just Dance 2020 and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. There are interesting things to say about both.

As for Just Dance 2020, it debuted on the charts at #15. What’s noteworthy is the platform breakdown. Switch led the way with 55 percent of all Just Dance 2020 sales. Next up was Wii at 21 percent, followed by the PlayStation 4 at 14 percent and Xbox One at 10 percent. That means Just Dance 2020 sold more on Wii than Sony and Microsoft’s consoles.

As for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, it came in at #8. The title is the series’ most successful entry since Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, a Wii title from 2011.

The topic of pricing was brought up during the Q&A session of Nintendo’s recent financial results briefing. In response, president Shuntaro Furukawa stressed that the company has no plans for any price cuts at this time.

Profitability was also mentioned as part of the same response. Nintendo hopes to improve in this area “by increasing the number of units sold and selling the Nintendo Switch family of hardware for as long as possible.”

According to Furukawa:

As far as downloads go, there’s no question that Mario Kart Tour is performing well. At the end of October, we heard that it was around 130 million downloads worldwide.

According to Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, the game is off to a good start – and that includes earnings. He also highlighted the importance of making it an appealing app in the long-term with various mechanics and upcoming multiplayer functionality.

Furukawa noted:

As noted during Nintendo’s latest financial results, the company’s digital sales continue to rise. Those sales went up even further this past fiscal year, which prompted one attendee during the Q&A session of the Big N’s investor briefing to ask about any specific changes to the numbers.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa pointed out a few things. For one thing, gamers are continuing to be interested in owning titles digitally as opposed to physically. Additionally, sales growth of download-only software is increasing, add-on content sales are up, and revenue is coming in from Nintendo Switch Online. Furukawa also highlighted the Fighters Pass for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which “has made a huge contribution.”

Furukawa said:

The Switch Lite launched with a pretty substantial game. Alongside the new hardware was The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, a remake of the Game Boy classic.

During the Q&A session of Nintendo’s latest financial results briefing, president Shuntaro Furukawa said “many” buyers picked up Link’s Awakening alongside the Switch Lite. Although sales have been high from core gamers, it’s expected that this could change as the consumer base expands.
