Playtonic and Grant Kirkhope tease new take on DK Rap
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 6 Comments
If you’ve played Donkey Kong 64, chances are you’re familiar with the DK Rap. Even those who have heard about the game in passing may be aware of the famous song, as it’s only gained in popularity over the years.
Grant Kirkhope, the creator of the DK Rap, is one of the composers working on Playtonic’s Yooka-Laylee. The 3D platformer is taking inspiration from many N64 games such as Banjo-Kazooie. The influences don’t stop there though, as it appears Kirkhope is preparing a new take on the DK Rap as a tie-in for Yooka-Laylee.
Playtonic put out the following video on YouTube earlier today:

Video: LEGO City Undercover Switch vs. Wii U loading times comparison
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Switch, Videos, Wii U | 10 Comments
Nintendo World Report has a new comparison up showing how the loading times in LEGO City Undercover differ on Switch and Wii U. It’s quicker on Switch for sure, but perhaps not as much as originally expected.
You can watch the preliminary comparison below. If a patch comes out next week, it could improve loading further – but it’s unclear if that will actually happen.
PETA weighs in on Milk mini-game in 1-2-Switch, wants it to be more realistic

Earlier this week, Nintendo had a bit of fun with real life farmers by taking on a new challenge with 1-2-Switch’s Milk mini-game. PETA saw this, and has now written a bizarre letter of its own to the big N.
The animal rights organization believes that 1-2-Switch isn’t being realistic in terms of how it portrays cow milking, calling it “far from reality” as the real act may sometimes be more violent. PETA thinks Nintendo should make the experience more authentic and even asks for certain sounds to be added in. If that isn’t possible, the letter suggests that Nintendo should “switch to simulating activities in which no animals suffer.”
Here’s the full letter:

Different version of Hyrule Historia shows up at kindergarten book fair

Hyrule Historia, a lengthy book covering historical information on The Legend of Zelda, came out a few years ago. It seems that a more condensed version exists targeting younger fans. Nintendo Force spotted the book – with a new cover and all – at a kindergarten book fair.
Aside from being smaller, it’s unclear how this version of Hyrule Historia differs. It’s also unavailable online.

Time Trials missing from Snake Pass on Switch, but will be patched in
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch eShop | 10 Comments
Snake Pass is supposed to come with Time Trials after finishing the main game. This is an option in almost all versions, but it’s apparently missing on Switch. A prompt should appear when selecting a level, giving players the ability to choose between normal play and the new Time Trials. However, it simply doesn’t show.
Fortunately, Sumo Digital has confirmed that Snake Pass on Switch will be receiving Time Trials at some point in the future. Design lead Brad Davey confirmed via NeoGAF:
“I thought I’d out myself to pass on some good news; I can confirm that we’re working on getting Time Trials patched in to the Switch version of the game. I can’t tell you exactly when this is going to happen, it’s not quite as simple as flicking a switch, there is some work on our end involved on getting this up and running. As soon as I have more news I’ll be sure to pass it on.”

Runner3 introduces its Retro Levels
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch eShop | 0 comments
One component of the Switch exclusive Runner3 is the inclusion of Retro Levels. As part of a new blog post, Choice Provisions provided an in-depth explanation of these stages.
Here’s the full rundown:
I’m happy to report that my work on the Runner3 Retro Levels is (mostly) COMPLETE! I want to remind everyone that this is *really* a video game within a video game. The Retro Levels are made up of 3 distinct worlds, each with 9 levels and a wacky boss battle. The levels are short-but-challenging jaunts in which you’re tasked with finding 5 elusive new collectibles never before seen in the series…THE GILDANS!
Once you’ve found as many as you can, feel free to jump headlong into that sketchy-looking mystery hole over there. I’m sure it’s safe:

Downloadable content is on the way to Super Bomberman R. Better yet, what Konami has in store will be free.
Konami gave a first tease of the Super Bomberman R DLC during a Game Theory live stream earlier tonight. It should encompass new stages and characters at the very least.
The following teaser was shown:
Konami didn’t provide a timetable for the DLC nor specifics about its contents. An official announcement should be made within the next few days.
Thanks to Antonino for the tip.
