Here’s a quick Random Thoughts reflection in which I discuss my excitement to play Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo’s portable. Question for you: if you had to choose between the two versions, would you go for Smash Bros. on Wii U or 3DS?

In last week’s issue of Famitsu, Masahiro Sakurai wrote a new column that goes into detail about the debugging process with games. Although nothing earth-shattering was revealed about the new Smash Bros., it’s quite an interesting read (though there is some Smash talk).

We’ve finally managed to put up a translation of Sakurai’s column. Head past the break to read it in full.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime spoke about a few different topics in a recent interview.

First, regarding the initial wave of Amiibo figures, he stated:

“We wanted to make sure that the breadth of characters we had for the initial ‘amiibo’ line-up supported the fan favorites, as well as showcase the variety of people Nintendo speaks to — from kids to adults. For example, you’ve got a character like Marth from the ‘Fire Emblem’ series. We thought exposing Marth to a wider collection of consumers through ‘amiibo’ made a ton of sense, but, of course, we had to have Mario, Princess Peach and Donkey Kong in that initial line-up, as well.”

The wait for the 3DS Homebrew Channel will continue on. Smealum, the project’s coder, has decided to delay its launch due to the upcoming release of New 3DS. He now hopes to enable homebrew on all 3DS systems, and potentially take advantage of New 3DS’ added power as well.

Smealum wrote on Twitter:

“I’ve worked way too long and hard on this to throw it away. This exploit is our best chance to get a look at the new 3DS coming out in one month. Using this as an entrypoint … gives us a fighting chance to defeat whatever new shit might be in there.”

The 3DS Homebrew Channel doesn’t have an estimated release date, though Smealum doesn’t expect the delay to carry into 2015.

The image above comes straight from a listing on the Japanese 3DS eShop. Might it reveal the starting roster for Smash Bros. 3DS? It shows every character announced thus far with the exception of Lucina. Only time will tell!

The next Cooking Mama has been announced for 3DS, and it’s coming to Japan in just a few months.

As the title suggests, Cooking Mama: My Sweets Shop has players working in a sweets shop and serving customers. There are 60 different types of sweets, though players can also make variations according to their liking. Sweets can be decorated with different combinations as well. In addition to making sweets, you can also arrange them in the shop.

Cooking Mama: My Sweets Shop launches in Japan on November 6 for 4,968 yen. Those who play the game at the Tokyo Game Show can receive an A5 size sticker present.
