USGamer has published an interview about the Dragon Quest VII remake with the producers of the title, Yuu Miyake and Noriyoshi Fujimoto. The interview goes into the history of the Dragon Quest series and its remakes, how the Dragon Quest VII remake is unique among those and how the team has tweaked the game for its 3DS release.

On the subject of the visual redesign and improved graphics for the Dragon Quest VII remake, the producers had this to say:

DQVII has the most magic, attributes, and jobs in the series, so we really wanted to reconsider how the users could have fun with it. One of the biggest additions, one of the things we wanted to show the fans was, how fun it was to change the occupations. To enhance that, we added different animations for these characters, for critical hit motions and whenever they change occupations, so there’s unique animations for each of them. We wanted the users to enjoy and experience these types of new additions through graphics by changing jobs and adding this new element.

Update (8/31): Now that Famitsu is out, it seems that Turbo OutRun is also included.

Original (8/30): Today, SEGA revealed, via Famitsu, the third SEGA 3D Classics Collection game for Nintendo 3DS, called “SEGA 3D Fukkoku Archives 3: Final Stage” in Japan. The following games, among others, will be included in the collection: After Burner II, Super Hang-On, Bare Kunckle II, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Gunstar Heroes.

Also included will be the most requested game from a survey that came with the previous game. Famitsu did not reveal that game, however they did reveal the games that placed fifth through second in that survey:

4. Gain Ground

5. Wing War

Finally, the game will also include the following games, which are already available on the 3DS eShop: 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2, 3D Afterburner II, 3D Streets of Rage 2, 3D Gunstar Heroes and 3D Super Hang-on.

Going forward, Deep Silver is handling games from Atlus and SEGA and Europe. We had previously heard that 7th Dragon III Code: VFD and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse had been confirmed for the region, but now we have slightly more specific launch windows. Both are arriving in Europe this winter.

As for 7th Dragon III Code: VFD, there’s additional good news on that front. Just like in North America, a special bonus art book will be included.

We’ve included a couple of trailers for the two titles below.

This week’s Famitsu scans are now available. Highlighted games include Megami Meguri, SEGA 3D Fukkoku Archives 3: Final Stage, Kunio-kun Nekketsu: Complete Famicom Compilation, Monster Hunter Stories, and Pokemon Sun/Moon. Scans of all titles can be found below.

Here’s an overview:

“Adventures inspired by the best-selling video games!

Picking up where their saga left off, Sapphire and Emerald train in the new techniques of Mega Evolution to prepare for the next crisis of epic proportions. And they’ll need Ruby’s help too!

A giant meteor is hurtling towards the planet! Searching for a way to change its course, Ruby journeys to Sky Pillar to earn the trust of Zinnia, the True Lorekeeper of the mysterious Draconid tribe. Does Zinnia have the key to saving the world?

And what does all this have to do with Legendary Pokémon Rayquazza?”

The first volume of the Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire manga releases on September 6. You can pre-order it on Amazon here, along with the next two volumes.

Along with the manga, VIZ Media is preparing a gift set containing both volumes of Santa Harukaze’s Pokemon Pocket Comics for October. This includes one based on the Pokemon Back/White characters and another featuring Legendaries. The two also have four-panel comics and come with trivia questions, quizzes, and puzzles.
