Masahiro Sakurai giving some thought to early retirement

There’s no question that Masahiro Sakurai is a veteran developer of the games industry. He’s been working on various projects for nearly three decades, and has contributed to some major IPs. Of course, he’ll always be recognized for his involvement in Kirby and Super Smash Bros.
There are some early leaks from Sakurai’s column in this week’s Famitsu, and he delves into what lies ahead in the future. As for that column which been ongoing since 2003, he would likely be ending it “this year at the latest.”

Zelda & Loftwing amiibo pre-orders open, price

Update 3 (5/25): Amazon Germany has pre-orders here, and it does ship to the U.S.

Update: Pre-orders are sold out at Best Buy, but just went up on GameStop here.
Original (5/19): Pre-orders have started to open for the newly-announced Zelda & Loftwing amiibo, which will be released alongside Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. Best Buy currently has it here. As more retailers make the figure available, we’ll let you know.
Keep in mind that this amiibo will be a bit pricier than normal. The cost of these figures have varied over the past few years, though they’ve usually settled in at around $16 from Nintendo. However, this one will set you back $25.
The Zelda & Loftwing amiibo releases on July 16.
SEGA announces Sonic Central presentation for May 27

SEGA will host a Sonic Central presentation on May 27, the company has announced. It will cover “a first look at some of the projects, partnerships, and events” for Sonic’s 30th anniversary.

Giles Goddard discusses portals feature in early Zelda: Ocarina of Time development

Giles Goddard had quite the career at Nintendo. He joined the company at an early age, and one of his first major projects was Star Fox – before moving on to the likes of Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
In an interview with MinnMax, Goddard opened up about working on Ocarina of Time, before there was even a proper game in place. He had a large role in the tech demo that first debuted at Space World (Shoshinkai). Goddard was also involved in R&D for Zelda on the N64 while the project was still in its initial development phase.
My Nintendo adds another Miitopia wallpaper in North America

Another wallpaper based on Miitopia is now up for grabs on My Nintendo in North America. You can claim it here for 50 Platinum Points.
My Nintendo already received a couple of Miitopia rewards earlier in the month. Aside from the first wallpaper, a May calendar was added.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield reveals new Raihan Nendoroid

The Nendoroid line is expanding with a new addition from Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. Raihan, one of the Gym Leaders players face in the game, is getting his own figure.

Today, Nintendo announced a new partnership with HelloFresh to celebrate the upcoming launch of Miitopia. The Fresh Adventures Sweepstakes begins May 21, and those who enter will have the chance to win a Nintendo Switch prize pack. It contains a Switch system and a download code for Miitopia.

Summer Game Fest 2021 begins on June 10 – Capcom, SEGA, and more partners confirmed

E3 is back after a year off, but Summer Game Fest – which was started last year by The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley – will be returning regardless. Fresh information about the event was shared today.
Summer Game Fest officially begins on June 10 at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 7 PM in the UK / 8 PM in Europe. The initial broadcast will feature “a spectacular live world premiere showcase, with a performance by Weezer, Day of the Devs and more”.

Zelda and Loftwing amiibo revealed to celebrate Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

Nintendo has announced a brand new amiibo tying in with the upcoming release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Fans will be able to pick up a figure featuring Zelda herself and a Loftwing.
Naturally, the amiibo has functionality with Skyward Sword HD. When used on the surface, you can return to the sky from wherever you like. Use it again in the sky to return to where you were previously. It even works in dungeons or buildings in the sky.

My Nintendo adds Famicom Detective Club wallpaper in North America
