The Game Awards 2018 started in a rather neat fashion. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime appeared on stage, as did Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios boss Shawn Layden and Xbox head Phil Spencer. They weren’t there to announce anything, but rather come together and deliver a brief speech. It’s not exactly something that happens a lot.

Reggie spoke about the moment with IGN after the show last week. Here’s what he had to say:

This week’s episode of Nintendo Minute has gone live. In today’s video, Kit and Krysta are joined by Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime to look back at the launch of Smash Bros. Ultimate. Check out the full episode below.

Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario, has earned a Guinness World Record for the most video game voiceover performances as the same character. The tally currently sits at 100 following the launch of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Martinet shared the news in a post on Instagram today:

Yacht Club Games produced a Shovel Knight amiibo a few years ago. Now the same figure appears to be getting a gold variant.

Play-Asia is where news about the possible gold Shovel Knight has emerged from. The retailer doesn’t show any pictures, however. There’s also no word yet on a release date.

We’ll keep you updated if we hear anything else about the situation.

Have you ever wondered what the Smash Bros. logo represents? During the latest episode of the Yoiko x Super Smash Bros. Ultimate video series, director Masahiro Sakurai commented on that very subject.

According to Sakurai, the intersecting lines are meant to show the “crossover” nature of the series. The circle divided into four sections represents 4-person multiplayer.

Though it’s in Japanese, you can watch the new Yoiko x Super Smash Bros. Ultimate video here.
