Sonic DJ Live

At SEGA Fes 2018 in Japan last week, a special Sonic DJ Live event was hosted with Tomoya Ohtani. Plenty of music from the Sonic series was played, and Jon Underdown even stopped by to perform. You can watch the full recording below.

Retailers have started taking pre-orders for the ARTFX J Pokemon Series Green with Eevee figure. It’s 1/8 scale, and comes pre-painted. As of now a release is estimated for September.

You can reserve the figure on Play-Asia here. AmiAmi also has it here.

Continue on below for some additional photos of the figure.

Zelda ornament

You may recall that, last year, Hallmark created a few Super Mario-themed ornaments. The company isn’t stopping there, as a new trio of ornaments will be releasing over the next few months.

Mario Kart and Donkey Kong arcade ornaments are dropping on July 14. Then on October 6, a special Zelda design will be available.

This week’s episode of Nintendo Minute has gone live. In today’s video, Kit and Krysta show off the newly-launched Nintendo Labo. Check out the full episode below.

The SNES Classic Edition has received its latest restock on GameStop. To place an order, head on over here. Past restocks have shown that it’ll be up for awhile, but will eventually sell out.

So it seems that Game Freak and Nintendo have filed for a new trademark known as “Ultra Shiny”, it is unclear what this will end up being in the end but it is interesting none the less. It could involve the Pokemon games, cards, or movies we just don’t know at this point.

Later this week, PowerA will be releasing collector pins for Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The pins, licensed by Nintendo, are comprised of ten different symbols, weapons, and Divine Beasts.

Pins will be sold in blind boxes with one randomly selected pins. Amazon shows that they’ll be available starting on April 20.

Last year, Nintendo promised the return of the NES Classic Edition / NES Mini / Famicom Mini for 2018. There hasn’t been any news since that original announcement in September, but an interesting development has taken place today.

Retailers in Japan actually started accepting orders for the Famicom Mini once again. Rakuten as well as Bic Camera had it available during a 12-hour period, with shipments taking place in 1-2 days. Thus far, they are the only two retailers that have started selling the Famicom Mini again.

Today’s news would suggest that a larger restock could be coming soon for the Famicom Mini. We’re also hoping that the US and Europe won’t be too far behind with the NES Classic Edition / NES Mini.

Yooka-Laylee celebrated its very first birthday this week. To celebrate, developer Playtonic shared a brief blog post here.

The big takeaways from the post are a couple of interesting teases. Playtonic says the team has been “far too busy working on covert goodness”. We’ll soon be hearing about “extra content for Yooka-Laylee” as well as “other stuff.”

What could “other stuff” be? A new game? Something else? Hopefully we’ll have more news to share soon.

Billy Mitchell has been the focus of much scrutiny this week. Twin Galaxies determined that Mitchell’s high scores achieved in Donkey Kong were not earned on natural arcade hardware, but rather through emulation which leaves the door open to cheating. Mitchell’s scores were thrown out, and he was banned from submitting future scores in the future. Guinness World Records is also wiping the slate clean.

We haven’t heard from Mitchell himself this week – until today. At the Midwest Gaming Classic in Milwaukee, he offered up the following statement:
