General Nintendo

MyGamingBoulevard got its hands on the Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl and Squid amiibo launching with Splatoon 2 this Friday. The figures are unboxed below, and also compared to the original Splatoon figures.

MyGamingBoulevard has an early look at the new Bayonetta, Corrin and Cloud amiibo releasing this week. All of the figures get unboxed in the video below.

Nintendo and LeSportsac announced a new travel collection last month. In an update added to Nintendo’s Japanese blog, some additional items are shown off that we hadn’t seen previously.

To begin, here’s the “Power Up Burst” lineup:

Miiverse

Miiverse launched with Wii U back in 2012. It expanded to 3DS in later years, but the service as a whole could be coming to an end soon.

As we reported earlier, Nintendo pushed out a new update for Wii U tonight. We don’t really have any specifics, though dataminers appear to have made an interesting discovery.

This text was apparently changed with version 5.5.2:

“The Miiverse service has ended. Miiverse and any software features that make use of Miiverse are now unavailable.”

Miiverse isn’t a part of Switch at all, so it wouldn’t be entirely surprising to see the service end at some point soon. Some community members likely wouldn’t be too happy though.

We’ve waited ages for the final round of Smash Bros. amiibo. But finally, this week, the final set of figures will be launching. Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta are due out on Friday.

We still have a few days to go until the official release, but you can always leave it to certain retailers to break the street date. Get a look at the newest Smash Bros. amiibo with some in-person photos.

CoroCoro has long been producing a manga based on Splatoon. Now the magazine is taking things to the next level with its own original anime.

The anime won’t actually air on TV, but it will be published on CoroCoro’s YouTube channel. It will naturally be based on the manga.

CoroCoro will be kicking off the Splatoon anime on August 12.

More footage is in from Mario Kart Arcade GP VR. We’re able to get another look at the track – off-screen that is – as well as a look at the whole racing unit setup. Check out the video below.

Retailers have been selling out of upcoming amiibo pre-orders, but Walmart has quite a bit in stock. The Metroid 2-pack, final Smash Bros. amiibo, new Fire Emblem figures, Splatoon 2 and Pikmin offerings are all up for grabs. You can reserve them here.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

At the end of last week, Japanese outlets were able to go hands-on with Mario Kart Arcade GP VR. New details about the game were shared as a result.

We have the following information:

– Four players get to race as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Peach
– Bowser and Wario also appear as NPCs
– People play by wearing not only VR googles and headphones, but also Vive trackers on each hand
– The right hand controls the accel, and the left hand has the brake
– The course is using the one from Mario Kart Arcade Grand Prix
– The handle has force feedback, and the seat also rumbles
– Three items are available here: Banana, Hammer, and Green Shell
– Items are floating on balloons mid-way, and can be obtained by raising your hands to grab them
– You can also throw items towards opponents behind you
– Can now throw items in all sorts of directions
– Tracks also have gimmicks like a giant Piranha Plant showing up from the side, a Thwomp falling from above, and a Bob-omb trying to cross the road and will explode if crashed into
– The track will change from a flooded area to a red hot area that resembles Bowser’s Castle
– When you’re inside tunnels it’ll also have a steampunk feel
– There’s also a section where racers can glide mid-air
– Races are balanced so that nobody gets to greatly surpass others
– Finally, there are no time records or rank placements at the end of the game (the writer assumes it’s because they want players to have fun rather than honing their skills)

We also have some new images as well:

Mario Kart Arcade GP VR is playable right now in Japan. It just opened up at the VR Zone Shinjuku.

Jason Michael Paul, with his company Jason Michael Paul Productions, has been running the Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses concert for years. Paul does have interest in branching out into other areas of Nintendo music, though the decision ultimately lies with the big N itself.

In an interview with Vooks, Paul mentioned that he’d like to work on a “Nintendo All Star concert”. Apparently he’s even “presented these ideas for years and years.” The premise is what you’d expect – a whole concert of music from Nintendo franchises in a single concert.

Paul said:

“(laughs) Of course, it’s all on Nintendo! I’ve already presented these ideas for years and years. Now so hopefully I’ll get my shot to be able to do that and hopefully I’ve done the Legend of Zelda franchise justice enough to be to be handed the torch to be able to do that because the idea of creating a Nintendo All Star concert is definitely something I would love to do. It would basically be all of Nintendo’s IP being presented all in one concert, it would be phenomenal.”
