Emily Rogers has returned with some new speculation about Retro Studios’ new project. As one would expect, this new title would be on NX.
Rogers wrote on Twitter a short while ago that the title in question isn’t Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, or Diddy Kong Racing 2. She adds that the project is planned for 2017.
Below are Rogers’ tweets:
Rumor part 2: Not Diddy Kong Racing 2 either. It sounds more like a new IP.

This information comes from Nintendo’s investors briefing as stated by president Tatsumi Kimishima…
This concludes today’s presentation.
Finally, about three hours ago, at Safeco Field which is the home for the MLB’s Seattle Mariners, Mr. Howard Lincoln, who is the CEO of the team and a board member of Nintendo of America Inc., announced the planned sale of its majority interest in the Seattle Mariners to other members of the team’s current ownership group. An agreement has been reached that Nintendo of America will retain a 10% stake in the team, while the remainder of its holdings will be sold to other members of First Avenue Entertainment LLLP, namely, to other existing minority owners of the team. First Avenue Entertainment LLLP is the limited partnership that owns the Seattle Mariners, and a majority interest in ROOT Sports NW. Closing the transaction is subject to the finalization of legal contracts and approval from Major League Baseball which is expected in August of this year. We will then close the sale and Mr. Lincoln will resign as the Mariners CEO.
Kimishima on changes in Nintendo’s corporate governance system

This information comes from Nintendo’s investors briefing as stated by president Tatsumi Kimishima…
Now I would like to explain about the changes in Nintendo’s corporate governance system as resolved in the meeting of the Board of Directors held yesterday. We resolved to transition to a system with an audit and supervisory committee, and to introduce an executive officer system.
The intent of this transition is to create an audit and supervisory committee with a majority of external directors to strengthen the auditing and oversight over the Board of Directors and enhance our corporate governance.
As for the timing of this transition, we will transition once we have the necessary changes to the company statutes approved at the general meeting of shareholders for the 76th fiscal term, to be held this year on June 29th.
The purpose of introducing an executive officer system is to separate business decision-making and oversight from business execution, and to delegate authority for executing business.
This clarifies the responsibility for business execution and enables us to create a flexible management system that can respond quickly and effectively to sudden changes in our business environment.

Along with Miitomo, we also began service on our new membership program, My Nintendo. Consumers can obtain a dedicated Nintendo Account to use the My Nintendo services.
For example, consumers receive Platinum Points for playing Miitomo, and can exchange these points for services related to many of Nintendo’s games, such as in-game items or tickets for use in Miitomo or discount coupons for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games.
Since the launch of global service for Miitomo, the number of My Nintendo users has also been increasing steadily.
We expect that the launch of new applications using the Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing IPs will expand our membership even more.
Kimishima recaps NX and E3 2016 news

This information comes from Nintendo’s investors briefing as stated by president Tatsumi Kimishima…
We plan to release our new concept game system, currently being developed under the codename “NX,” in March 2017.
We will take another opportunity prior to the release to discuss the features and price of the NX, as well as the software lineup for launch.
We do not plan to show the NX at the E3 show in Los Angeles in June. We will introduce the NX at another time later this year.
Our E3 experience will focus on the latest title in The Legend of Zelda series. We have already released The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for Wii U and Hyrule Warriors Legends for Nintendo 3DS this year. Thirty years have passed since the release of the first title in The Legend of Zelda series, and we have even more in store for the future.
Kimishima on successful amiibo sales, some figures becoming evergreen
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 2 Comments
This information comes from Nintendo’s investors briefing as stated by president Tatsumi Kimishima…
Next, we will cover the amiibo business. Over the fiscal year ended March 2016, we shipped about 24.7 million amiibo figures and about 28.9 million amiibo cards, a huge increase over the prior fiscal year.
By providing a continued presence for Nintendo characters in stores, we believe the amiibo platform has created great benefits for all of Nintendo’s platforms.
These are the sell-through trends for Splatoon series amiibo in Japan.
Even after the start of the calendar year, the Splatoon series amiibo have continued to sell well, with sales approaching one million units in Japan alone. This graph shows the total sell-through by quarter in the U.S. for several of the characters that were released with the initial launch of amiibo in November 2014.
Like software titles, some amiibo characters are also becoming evergreen, showing stable long-term sales with little seasonal fluctuation.

Nintendo of America to sell a majority of its interest in the Seattle Mariners
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Random | 12 Comments
In non-gaming news, Nintendo of America has announced the planned sale of a majority of its interest in the Seattle Mariners to other members of the current ownership group. Nintendo of America will hold on to a 10 percent stake in the team, while the remainder of its holdings will be sold to other members of First Avenue Entertainment LLLP (FAE). To clarify, FAE is the limited partnership that owns the Seattle Mariners, and a majority interest in ROOT Sports NW. Before the transaction closes, it’ll be subject to the finalization of legal contracts and approval from Major League Baseball. Nintendo expects this to happen in August.
CEO Howard Lincoln, who was once chairman of Nintendo of America, will be retiring day-to-day operations. John Stanton will replace him as Chairman and CEO, as well as as the designated Major League Baseball Control Person. Lincoln will remain a part of the FAE Board of Directors, representing Nintendo’s ownership interests.
Howard Lincoln said in a statement today:
“From the first day of our involvement nearly 24 years ago, Nintendo has had two goals for its investment in the Mariners. First, we wanted to assure the permanence of the team in this great city. And on that count, I am proud and gratified that this agreement further solidifies that goal. On the other hand, I’m equally disappointed that we have not been able to host a World Series game for our fans.”
John Stanton added:
“My goal and the goal of the entire Mariners ownership and management team is to win a World Series. I believe that the Mariners are well positioned to achieve that goal and it will be my honor to lead the organization. I want to thank Howard for his leadership for the last 17 years and thank the members of the board and ownership for giving me this opportunity.”
