“New” is often a word that Nintendo uses in game titles. Have you ever wondered by this is so? During the latest Part-Time Gamers podcast, Chris Pranger from Nintendo Treehouse explained its heavy usage.

“In Japanese, ‘new’ is exotic and sounds cool,” he said. “That is the exact reason why ‘new’ is on so many titles.”

Pranger went on to say that, on numerous occasions, they’ve told the developers that “new” doesn’t bring about the same sense excitement as it does in Japan. But these game creators feel that it isn’t an issue so long as the the word isn’t offensive or confusing.

Nintendo recently created functionality on its European website that allows users to log in with their Nintendo Network ID.

One of the first steps is to link your Nintendo Network ID to your Club Nintendo account. In doing so, you’ll be awarded with 750 stars. Logging into the site with your Nintendo Network ID also means you’ll be logged into Club Nintendo (and vise versa).

You can give the new feature a try on Nintendo of Europe’s site here.

Nintendo has announced the North American release dates for several new amiibo.

The 30th Anniversary Mario Classic Color, Zero Suit Samus, Ganondorf, Olimar, Bowser Jr., and Dr. Mario are all arriving on September 11. There will also be a Retro 3 Pack on September 25 featuring R.O.B., Duck Hunt, and Mr. Game & Watch.

Nintendo says that “details about availability and pre-order schedules for these figures will be announced directly from various retailers in the near future.” This is speculation on my part, but it sounds like you’ll need to grab the Retro 3 Pack from GameStop if you’re interested in R.O.B., Duck Hunt, and Mr. Game & Watch come September 25.

Finally, Nintendo shared an update on the Mii Fighters. Previously announced for September, they’ll now be arriving sometime in November as a 3 pack. Nintendo will also announce details about launch plans for the 30th Anniversary Mario Modern Color amiibo in North America in the future.
