Nintendo open to revisiting Mario Kart: Double Dash’s dual racers feature
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in GameCube, General Nintendo, News | 4 Comments
The Mario Kart series has yet to see the return of dual racers since Mario Kart: Double Dash. Yet even though this feature hasn’t been revisited, Nintendo is still open to the idea of featuring two racers per cart.
Mario Kart 8 producer Hideki Konno said during a GDC 2014 roundtable session:
“It wasn’t just a simple case of, ‘Hey, we’re not going to do that again.’ We really think the two racers together in one kart of Double Dash was really unique, and we thought it worked really well.”
“We’ve got that in our pocket, so if we come up with any new, cool ideas that utilize having two players racing together, we will definitely grab that and possibly bring it back out.”
“Having two players racing together, it does have a pretty high cost in terms of processing power, so that is an obstacle. That being said, if we could come up with some ways around that processing cost, we may have two players, maybe even three players, racing together. If we could come up with some cool ideas, we’ll definitely use them.”

Peter Moore apologizes for “unacceptable” April Fools’ tweets made on Frostbite account poking fun at Wii U
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Wii U | 46 Comments
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a big fan of April Fools. That’s one of the many reasons why we shy away from posting related content each year.
That said, one attempted April Fools’ joke did spiral a bit out of control earlier today, and developed into a more mainstream piece of news worth covering.
Essentially, a few tweets were posted on EA’s official Frostbite Engine Twitter account earlier today, which completed backfired. They are as follows:

Nintendo has picked up a pair of new trademarks in Japan: Aquari and Tomodachi Life (in English).
Aquari might be a sequel to Art Style: AQUIA – a DSiWare game released several years back. Meanwhile, Tomodachi Life could be the localized name for Tomodachi Collection.

Square Enix opens new teaser site
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 1 Comment
Square Enix has apparently opened a new teaser site for something tentatively going by the name “Team 043”. You can find it here.
The page doesn’t reveal much information, but Square Enix’s title seems to be a “ranobe-style RPG” or “light novel” RPG.
We’re assuming that this isn’t an April Fool’s joke on Square Enix’s part. There’s nothing on the teaser site indicating that it’s fake, but on a day like today, you never know!
