mario kart 8 deluxe booster course pass interview kosuke yabuki future

Following the announcement and initial release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass DLC, producer Kosuke Yabuki spoke to Japanese publication Nikkei about the design philosophy behind the retro course remasters and how the team expects to handle the series going forward.

In particular, Yabuki and the team want to honor former president Satoru Iwata’s mantra of making as many games as accessible to as many people as possible.

A translation of Yabuki’s comments can be found below.

Red Wings American Aces trailer

The launch of Red Wings: American Aces is being celebrated with a new trailer. Just this week, All In! Games put the title on Switch.

You can catch up on Red Wings: American Aces with the following overview:

Mario Golf: Super Rush Yoshi

With April having just started up, Mario Golf: Super Rush is now offering new Yoshi colors as a Ranked Match reward.

The unlock process is the same this month as it’s always been. Throughout April, players just need to hit the rank of A- or above in the online Ranked Match mode, which can be done by accumulating points. Points can be earned by playing these particular online matches, doing well in them, and taking down higher ranked opponents. After unlocking the colors, you’ll see the image / message above. Then you should head over to the character screen in Mario Golf: Super Rush, hover over Yoshi, and pressing the “L” button to swap variations.

mario kart 8 deluxe sales popularity

Mario Kart 8 has seen the longest tale of any entry in the series, with support for the game continuing eight years after the initial release on Wii U (and five years after Switch) through the recently announced Booster Course Pass. Producer Kosuke Yabuki recently spoke to Japanese outlet Nikkei about the game, admitting the team didn’t anticipate the incredible sales of Deluxe for Switch. He believes the breadth of its appeal was likely a big contributing factor, as well as the fact that the Joy-Con make every Switch a potential 2-player console.

We’ve prepared a translation of Yabuki’s full comments below.

Toasty: Ashes of Dusk

Toasty: Ashes of Dusk has been over on Kickstarter where it’s received quite a bit of support. While the action RPG was looking to raise $25,000, the campaign just crossed the $60,000 funded. It’s all good news for Switch as Toasty: Ashes of Dusk has been confirmed for the console in light of the crowdfunding success.

The project comes from publisher Top Hat Studios and developer Pocket Llama. Players take on the role of Marshall the Marshmallow Knight while going on an adventure to stop an all-powerful evil and protect friends that are made in magical world of Geldia. Inspirations include Zelda titles such as Link’s Awakening and Majora’s Mask, Final Fantasy VII, Pokemon, and EarthBound.

Layer Section & Galactic Attack S-Tribute

Taito has announced Layer Section & Galactic Attack S-Tribute, an updated version of the classic arcade shoot ’em up originally released in 1995. Switch will be getting it later this month.

Layer Section is the home console version of the arcade game RayForce, which released on SEGA Saturn. Galactic Attack comes into play as that is the overseas version of Layer Section.

New features are planned such as rewind, Slow Mode, online rankings, and more.

Here’s a bunch of additional information about Layer Section & Galactic Attack S-Tribute:

Catie in MeowmeowLand delayed

It was just a few weeks ago that Catie in MeowmeowLand was announced for Switch with a March 30, 2022 release date. But if you were browsing the eShop this week, you may have noticed that the title is nowhere to be seen. As it turns out, it saw a last-minute delay.

It’s currently unclear what the situation is. Publisher Blowfish Studios is only stating currently, “The Nintendo Switch version is currently taking a cat nap lying in a beam of sunlight and will launch at a later date.”
