Nintendo eShop

Nintendo’s current maintenance schedule is mostly status quo. There’s still one period planned for later this month involving all of the eShops, which will be impacted for a few hours.

The full schedule is as follows:

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

As we enter a new month, there are a new batch of bugs, fish, and underwater creatures to encounter in Animal Crossing: New Horizons – well, for half of the world anyway. It turns out that there’s nothing new in the Northern Hemisphere, but there are quite a few additions down south.

Here’s the full lineup:

Streets of Rogue

The rogue-lite game Streets of Rogue arrived on Switch last July. The team later made a new Character Pack, and the DLC has now finally come to Switch.

The Character Pack contains six new playable characters that feature their own abilities and Big Quests.

Here’s some additional information about the DLC and a trailer:

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

The original LEGO Marvel Super Heroes could be making its way to Switch. That’s based on a new rating from the ESRB, which added in the database listing this week.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 came to Switch in 2017. Wii U received the first entry back in 2013, but it never found its way to Nintendo’s current console.

Dark Souls: Remastered

In a previous interview with Automaton Media, key developers from Virtuos (Andy Fong and Lukas Codr) sat down to detail their porting process for Switch games. Keen readers might recognize the studio’s name from the likes of Dark Souls: Remastered, BioShock: The Collection, XCOM 2 Collection, and more.

During the interview, Virtuos confirmed that the studio has a dedicated team to work on Switch projects. The developers also spoke about developing for TV / handheld modes and where the company’s strengths lie when it comes to handling Switch ports.

Nintendo hasn’t done much with the F-Zero series in well over a decade. F-Zero GX, one of the series’ last major entries, came out way back in 2003 for the GameCube.

Toshihiro Nagoshi is known for the Yakuza series these days, but fans may remember that he held an important role on F-Zero GX. Nagoshi was actually a producer on the game all of those years ago. It seems as though he still has fond memories of the project, as he’d be open to revisiting the series.
