Game Freak has teased some new elements for in Pokemon Sword/Shield that will allow players to get their creatures primed for competitive play.

In an interview with Game Informer, planning director Kazumasa Iwao said:

In the past, Pokemon introduced the Exp. Share item in which experience earned in battle is distributed to all Pokemon in the player’s party. For Pokemon Sword/Shield, this is no more.

Game Freak has done away with Exp. Share entirely. In its place, every Pokemon in your party gets equal experience automatically as you progress through the game.
