Heavenly Bodies

November 14: A Switch version of Heavenly Bodies is in development, according to 2pt Interactive. We know that it’s planned for February 2024, but a specific date hasn’t been shared.

Heavenly Bodies is a physics game “about cosmonauts, the body, and the absence of gravity.” Learn more about it in the following overview:

Bo Path of the Teal Lotus release date

Today, publisher Humble Games and developer Squid Shock Studios announced the release date for Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus. The title launches on July 18, 2024.

Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus is a hand-drawn Metroidvania platformer. You may recall that it was funded in 2022.

Irem Collection Volume 2 delayed

Irem Collection Volume 2 is seeing a delay, ININ Games has confirmed.

The package was originally supposed to launch this week – at least digitally. However, it’s now been postponed. In a statement on social media, ININ said it wasn’t satisfied with the state in which Volume 1 was released, and wants to avoid a similar situation this time around. The company did not provide an update on launch timing.

Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution

July 12: WayForward has revealed that Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution, a game that was originally in development during the Game Boy Advance era, is finally seeing an official launch. It will be available on an actual GBA-compatible cartridge in early 2024, courtesy of Limited Run Games.

Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution was put on the shelf for nearly two decades. Now, however, the once-canceled title will be completed. Shantae creator Erin Bozon, series director Matt Bozon, and programmer Michael Stragey are using GBA-era development tools to authentically complete the handheld experience. There’ll be multiple chapters, numerous towns and labyrinths, six creature transformations, fierce bosses, and a soundtrack from Maddie Lim, plus a four-player battle mode.

Nintendo tends to dominate, but there are a few third-party games here. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown cracks the top five, for example. Hogwarts Legacy is still doing well at #2. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is still the overall top seller.

Lunar Lander: Beyond physical

Lunar Lander: Beyond will be receiving a physical release on Switch, Atari has announced.

Two different versions will be available. In addition to a standard copy, Atari is readying a deluxe edition. The latter includes an exclusive steelbook, a 146 page softcover art book, and the physical game with all contents packaged inside a collectible tuck-in box.

Circana has released a listing of the top ten best-selling games in the U.S. for the month of January 2024.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown came out last month, and ends up at #13. Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash, another new release, manages to end up in the chart at #19. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the first appearance of a Nintendo-published title at #11.

Inkulinati launch trailer

Inkulinati, the historical turn-based strategy game, has received a new launch trailer. Daedalic Entertainment and Yaza Games are celebrating the debut of the full release on various platforms, including Switch.

Mario vs Donkey Kong icons

February 15: Going along with the release of Mario vs. Donkey Kong, new icons for the game have just been added to Nintendo Switch Online.

It looks like there’ll only be a couple of waves for this one. Still, subscribers can spend their My Nintendo Platinum Points on different designs. A bunch of characters – including Mario, Donkey Kong, and Toad – can be picked up for 10 Platinum Points each. Backgrounds and frames are going for 5 Platinum Points each.
