Dragon Quest XI – area details, new monsters, 3DS screenshots
Posted on 8 years ago by Jake in News | 3 Comments
Square-Enix has released more information on Dragon Quest XI, which will be coming to the 3DS and Switch.
The sections of the game will be separated into three types of areas: towns, fields, and dungeons. Towns, as you would expect, are where the player can buy equipment, gather information, and find quests. Nearby speakers will have bits of dialogue appearing next to their heads, and anyone who has a quest or trouble will have a distinct purple mark. Fields vary in type of terrain and monsters, and you can even find different things depending on the time of day and weather. You can also break certain rocks for ores and gather fruit from trees. Finally, dungeons will feature strong monsters, puzzles, and potentially treasure.
There are also two new Dragon Quest monsters: Lantern Kozuo and Mokokki. The former is an abandoned lantern that has become a monster and seeks its former owners. The latter is a fluffy creature with a giant sewing needle. There is also a new character, Silvia. They appear to be a bard character intent on making everyone in the world smile.
You can check out screenshots of the 3DS version below:

New Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia details, screenshots
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Screenshots | 4 Comments
GameSpot was able to get a taste of what Fire Emblem Echoes has to offer at PAX East this weekend. In a new article, the site shares additional details and screenshots. Find the new content rounded up below.
– Rather than moving directly from mission to mission, a world map allows you to have some freedom in choosing what you do next
– Once again, dungeons are in the game
– Explore dungeons in 3D with a third-person camera
– Dungeons have destroyable objects and treasure chests with items and money to find
– Encounter enemies in dungeons as well
– Engaging one takes you into a standard Fire Emblem battle
= It’s almost like a mini mission, as you still have access to your squad and face multiple enemies, rather than simply taking part in a one-on-one fight
– Gain an edge by attacking the foe in the dungeon before combat begins, reducing their health to start the battle, – Enemies can do the same to you
– Echoes follows a pair of “dueling” protagonists that you’ll swap between
– Celica and Alm each set out to defend their country, but they take different approaches to doing so
– Swap back and forth between the two routinely
– Can spend longer stretches of time playing as one before jumping into the other’s story
– First Fire Emblem game to feature full voice acting (some very minor characters aside)
– Archers can now counter-attack from a single tile away
– Mages now expend a portion of their health in order to cast spells
– Weapon durability seems to be absent
– No support system during battles
– No traditional weapon triangle
– There are still ways to gain an advantage in battles

First week sales for Disgaea 5 Complete, I Am Setsuna in Japan
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 52 Comments
Some third-party Switch games are off to pretty decent starts in Japan. On the other end of the spectrum, Disgaea 5 Complete and I Am Setsuna have started off slowly.
It was a bit worrying when both titles missed Media Create’s initial software chart for the week of February 27. When the expanded chart came in, we saw that I Am Setsuna and Disgaea 5 Complete were positioned at the 22nd and 26th spots respectively.
