Hideo Kojima shares some thoughts on Switch
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 35 Comments
Update: IGN also has some comments from Kojima. They’re mostly the same, but here’s what he said:
“You might be familiar with the fact that for a previous game that I did, we had a specification that we called ‘Transfarring’ where you could take the saved data from the PS Vita and move it over to the PS3 and back and forth like that. I believe [Switch] is an extension of that idea. The fact you can play something at home and take it outside, this is the gamer’s dream. The Switch is an evolution of that.”
“For example, often when you buy a Blu-Ray disc, it’ll have a code on the inside for a digital version, so in the same respect you can watch it at home and then take it on the go on your tablet and smartphone. This is how movies and TV are moving, and this is how games should go.”
“I feel like cloud technology is what everything will eventually move to. It’s further behind right now than I think where people thought it would be at this point, but I think it will go there, and when the infrastructure is ready, you’ll be able to play everything, on every device, anywhere. The Switch is the predecessor to this step.”
Original: Plenty of Japanese developers have shared thoughts about Switch. But what about Hideo Kojima, who previously led the Metal Gear Solid series?
Glixel asked Kojima about how he feels regarding Switch in a new interview. Regarding Nintendo’s new console, he stated:
“You might be familiar with a thing we created called ‘Transfarring’ which let you transfer data between a PS Vita game and a PS3 game. I see the Switch as an evolution of that idea, where you can play something at home and play it to go. This is the main attraction of this system. For example, movies and TV, you can watch them on basically any device. You can watch them at home, you can watch them on the go. Games will become the same way. The cloud technology is behind the curve in that regard, but that’s the correct line of thought, and this is where Nintendo’s taking it.”
Kojima actually went hands-on with Switch this week, and his experience was recorded on camera. You can see him playing 1-2-Switch right here.

XSEED trying to decide what to do about Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns’ DLC in the west
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 11 Comments
XSEED has found itself in a bind with Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns’ downloadable content. The new content could either be sold as paid DLC, or abandoned entirely.
XSEED explained a blog post:
“The total size of the DLC is over 200,000 Japanese characters, making it as large as some games we’ve released. The first Corpse Party, for example, has about 210,000 characters.
The last round of DLC was released in Japan in mid-December, which means that the Japanese text was completed after we’d entered the QA and submission phase of localizing the main game. With DLC of this size, including it in the game would have been impossible under our schedule. It would have forced us to release months after we’d originally planned.

Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch eShop | 0 comments
Monster Couch is looking to bring Die for Valhalla! to Switch, developer Monster Couch said today. Actual development on the system has yet to begin, but the team is looking into obtaining a dev kit and will attempt to have it ready alongside other platforms.
Monster Couch describes its game as “a beat ’em up with a paranormal twist.” You play as the ghostly witch Valkyrie, who has been sent to help Vikings save their world.
The Die for Valhalla! Kickstarter page shares the following information:
“You summon heroes from Valhalla and make them hack, slash and crush. Your job is to make sure they take down as many enemies as possible before they Die for Valhalla!
You will also discover tales about Vikings and their Myths. As a Valkyrie, you will seek the truth about yourself and the nature of the world. Things are not always what they seem.”
Speaking of Kickstarter, Die for Valhalla! is indeed seeking some funding at the moment. About half of the $5,600 goal has been raised so far.

Sensor Tower is reporting that Fire Emblem Heroes has already earned over $2.9 million in worldwide gross revenue and been downloaded more than two million times in its first day. In terms of revenue, it’s behind Pokemon GO ($10.2 million) and Super Mario Run ($8.4 million), but above Clash Royale ($1.4 million).
