Nintendo of America has signed off on Azure Striker Gunvolt, meaning the game should be launching in the states fairly soon. On that note, Inti Creates intends to announce a release date soon.

The company shared today’s update on Twitter:

The 3.0 update for Steel Diver: Sub Wars is now available. This version of the game adds a bunch of new additions – they’re all outlined in the patch notes below.

WayForward’s XtremeSports will not be available on the North American 3DS Virtual Console as originally planned. It’s coming to Europe this Thursday, but gamers in the US will need to wait a few more weeks.

WayForward wrote on Twitter:

Yacht Club Games shared a comprehensive breakdown of Shovel Knight’s sales in a new blog post.

In its first week, the indie title managed to sell 75,000 copies (taking out Kickstarter pre-sales). Yacht Club said, “It blew our 2x-4x pre-sale expectation out of the water”.

There are a few reasons we think our preorder prediction ended up being such a conservative estimate. One is…we were a Kickstarter! That’s not quite the same thing as a preorder. People could only attain the preorder for a limited time, so the stats aren’t 100% aligned with what a preorder would do. We think due to the PC nature of Kickstarter, we saw a higher amount of sales on Nintendo’s platform when the game actually got released. Nintendo users are more inclined to buy the game day one rather than through a preorder on Kickstarter. Finally, the preorder prediction isn’t a set in stone statistic, but more like a guideline for what to expect. We had done a lot of promotion and marketing at conventions and on media sites to prove ourselves over the course of the year, and we think people responded to it in kind! Nintendo also did an amazing job supporting us through their store placement and own marketing channels.

Ancient is developing a sequel to Protect Me Knight, a Japanese indie title for the Xbox 360.

The new game features four-player local co-op, “about ten times” as much content as the original, and music from Yuzo Koshiro music. Two new characters have been shown thus far: an older knight on a toy horse and an archer.

A price point for the Protect Me Knight hasn’t been announced, though it will be “about twice” the Xbox 360 version given the large increase in content.

Protect Me Knight is heading to the Japanese 3DS eShop in September. At the moment, an international release hasn’t been decided.

The 3DS version of Dragon Fantasy: Book I was made official through an official announcement published by Muteki today.

The game will feature several additions/changes, including:

– Ogden now has allies so that he doesn’t have to grind by his lonesome
– Bottom screen gives players info such as a map, quest log, inventory screen, beastiary
– Improved inventory system with sorting and filtering
– Purchase multiple items at once
– 3D support

Random battles have also been removed from Dragon Fantasy: Book I – for the most part anyway. Battles are still random on the world map, but not in towns, caves, dungeons, or caverns. In these areas, monsters will appear on screen and will take a step each time the hero does. You can choose to face monsters on their own terms or even avoid them completely.

Dragon Fantasy: Book I is currently “in the final testing phases before submission”. You can find screenshots from the game above.

Arc System Works confirmed plans to bring BlazBlue: Clone Phantasma to the North American 3DS eShop well over a year ago. The good news is that the game is still coming. The bad news is there’s still no date, and a European release isn’t planned just yet.

Arc System Works told Siliconera:

“As far as I can tell you, we have just reached the stage to release it for the U.S., so we have not discussed releasing it in the EU area yet.”

Another tidbit from Arc System Works: there are no plans to localize their series of Escape Adventure 3DS games.

Dan Adelman has issued his own personal response about leaving Nintendo on a website he launched today.

Adelman was the founder of Nintendo of America’s digital distribution business and remained with the company for nine years. Today, however, Adelman revealed he left the company last week and is creating his own business to help smaller developers in various ways.

In any case, here’s what Adelman had to say about Nintendo – in which he also states that the eShop “is in good hands”:
