Capcom hasn’t released a demo for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on the eShop, but some 3DS owners are managing to get access. We’re hearing that the demo was distributed at a Nintendo of Europe headquarters event today. There will apparently be another event in Paris soon as well.

Monsters in the demo include Great Jaggi, Tetsucabra, and Gore Magala. Online play is not yet functional.

A trio of Dragon Quest games for 3DS are receiving re-releases in Japan. Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland 3D, Dragon Quest VII, and Dragon Quest Monsters 2 will be available on March 12 under Square Enix’s “Ultimate Hits” line. Pricing is set at 2,800 yen each.

The Legend of Legacy features a unique mapping system known as “Cartegraph”. Interestingly, it was something planned by SaGa designer Kyoji Koizumi for several years.

Director Masataka Matsuura spoke about The Legend of Legacy’s mapping system in an interview with Inside Games, noting:

“This system is from a project called ‘Cartegrapher’ (tentative title) that Koizumi-san has been working on for several years, and we decided to introduce its structure [in this game]. Koizumi-san suggested it, then fleshed it out with adjustments like rendering and such, which became the Cartegraph feature.”

“It was originally something very simple, but after adding the stereoscopic 3D to it, it became what we have today. When you look at it in 3D, it’s almost like those picture books that pop out, and it’s really fun!”

“By making maps as you go, I believe that you get a ‘sense of adventure’ while exploring the unknown wild lands. I think there will also be a sense of value to the maps themselves,” says Matsuura, adding that walking around and checking out the map will be fun in its own way.

We previously heard that Square Enix had 3DS theme plans for Bravely Second. Now we have a look at one of the special home menu designs. I don’t believe it’s widely available yet, but some 3DS owners already have access to the theme above after obtaining it at Jump Festa 2015.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate box art

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate won’t be out for another couple of months, but Amazon already has a deal running for Capcom’s game. You can reserve the title now and save $10 (25%). Not too shabby for something that will cost $40 at launch!
