NPD Group has released a listing of the top ten best-selling games in the U.S. for the month of September 2014. The results can be found below.

Today’s NPD day, and Nintendo has once again provided its regular response to the latest US sales data.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS managed to sell over 705,000 copies in its first two days, making the game the fourth best-selling software SKU for the month. 135,000 of those sales came from eShop downloads.

3DS sales came in at 140,000 for September – up 55 percent compared to August. Wii U sales also increased by nearly 50 percent over sales in August thanks to Hyrule Warriors (190,000 units sold) and Mario Kart 8 (60,000 units sold).

A few new 3DS themes are now available for download in North America and Europe. Each is a “Spinner” variation featuring Rosalina, Mario, Bowser, and Peach. Pricing is set at $1.99 per theme.

At New York Comic-Con last week, Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura revealed a new collaboration with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. The Kingdom Hearts III director is making original male and female weapons along with armor and original Felyne equipment.

Nomura spoke a bit about his involvement with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate with Famitsu this week. “I’ve publicly stated that I love the Monster Hunter series, especially the multi-player,” he said. “So when I received the offer, I was honestly very happy.”

Nomura’s designs are specifically made for the west. They’re not available in the Japanese version of the game, which launched last week.

Jump provides an update on Final Fantasy Explorers this week, revealing new summons and jobs for the 3DS game.

Odin and his steed Sleipnir can be summoned in Final Fantasy Explorers. Additionally, Amaterasu will make its first appearance in the Final Fantasy series.

Jump also confirms the Red Mage and Machinist jobs for Final Fantasy Explorers. Red Mages can use swords and magic attacks against enemies while the Machinist can strike enemies at short intervals with rapid-fire attacks.

Jump’s other 3DS game announcement from this week’s issue is “Kuroko’s Basketball: Ties to the Future”. This will be the series’ second title for Nintendo’s portable.

Kuroko’s Basketball: Ties to the Future will let players control their character to walk around town and talk to other characters. New original event scenes and powered-up basketball action will also be included.

This week’s issue of Jump contains a couple of new 3DS game announcements. The first, Assassination Classroom: Grand Siege on Kurosensei, is a “comical assassin action” game. Players can create their own character and cooperate with the students of Class 3-E to kill Korosensei.

No further information is included in the magazine. Assassination Classroom: Grand Siege on Kurosensei does not have a release date or price currently.
