Final Fantasy Explorers director Atsushi Hashimoto and project manager Takahiro Abe talked more about the 3DS game while speaking with Famitsu, mainly pertaining to the job system.

Here’s the latest on the game:

This week’s Famitsu review scores are as follows:

Youkai Watch 2 (3DS) – 9/9/9/9

That’s it! Only one score again this week.

EA and Nintendo have had an interesting and tumultuous relationship over the last few years. To help clarify (or fuel?) the situation with EA on the handheld site of their publishing, COO Peter Moore recently had the following to say:

“We were supportive of both of those platforms,” Moore said. “But then you’ve got finite resources and you’ve got teams that say, ‘We really think that two or three years from now, these are the platforms that people are going to be consuming games on.’ And you look at the quality of what you can do on phones and tablets… Sometimes strategy is not about what you do but what you don’t do, and you have to make some hard calls when you’ve got only so many people. To my point, we’ve got to be planning for FY 17 and 18. Do you think the Vita and 3DS are going to be around in some shape or fashion by then on a scale level?”

During the week of June 16, Pokemon Art Academy launched in Japan. While it only moved 31,080 copies, the game sold through 70.11 percent of its initial shipment.

Pokemon Art Academy actually could have sold even more if not for a recent Nintendo promotion. The title was made free (starting this month and lasting through the end of July) as part of Nintendo’s Recommended Monthly Software Campaign. You also have to consider that overall sales slowed during the week due to it being the week before payday.

If you pre-order Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley at GameStop, you’ll be provided with a special bonus. The retailer is giving out a plush dog when the game launches. This offer is valid both in-store and online.

This isn’t a completely brand new Super Smash Bros. for 3DS trailer, but it appears to be a new arrangement. There are a few new gameplay scenes/snippets in there – like the brief Steel Diver bit.

Thanks to Jan for the tip.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3DS boxart

Activision has announced another new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for 3DS, developed by Magic Pockets. It will be available on August 8, in time for the release of Paramount Pictures’ film of the same name.

Here’s an official overview:

Mad genius Baxter Stockman’s mutant and robotic horrors have teamed up with the shadowy armies of the Foot Clan to terrorize New York City, and only Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello can protect its subways, sewers, rooftops and streets from their devastating campaign.

This Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles title is a third-person action game with fast-moving hack-and-slash gameplay. Players will be able to swap between the four main characters at any time. Each turtle has its own strengths and skills based on their personality, ranging from Mikey’s speed to Raph’s brute force. The game also lets players evolve in power over time by gaining new levels, abilities and stat points. New weapons can be crafted back at the Turtle’s Lair from raw materials collected throughout the adventure.
