It’s been a while since we’ve had a character reveal, but today Ike has been confirmed for the newest Wii U and 3DS battles! Sakurai had this to say:

Ike, the swordsman of magnificent strength, joins the battle!! Strike your foes down with his powerful smash attacks.

He also went into a bit of detail about his appearance this time around:

For this game, Ike’s design is based on the hero that appears in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. His sword deals heavy damage in Smash Bros., so this design suits him very well! Rest assured, he can use Aether as well.

The official screenshots for Ike’s release can be found below.

Ubisoft will not be bringing any Wii U or 3DS titles to the E3 2014 event next month. “We won’t be showing off any Nintendo games at E3 this year,” a representative told NintendoWorldReport.

Initially, Ubisoft provided a decent amount of support for 3DS as well as Wii U. But now the publisher has nothing major lined up for Nintendo’s portable, and Watch Dogs is the only remaining title slated for Wii U.

Shin Megami Tensei IV was announced for Europe during a Nintendo Direct over a year ago. Since then, we’ve barely heard a peep about the game’s release.

Despite the silence though, the 3DS RPG still seems to be planned for Europe. Nintendo France’s Stephan Bole told Le Figaro in a new interview that the company is “hard at work on the French translation of Shin Megami Tensei”.

Been a while since we’ve had a 3DS screenshot! Sakurai details an interesting tidbit about team battles today:

In previous games in the series, if you chose the red team in a team battle, your Mario would have been red. But now you can choose any color you want! The color outlining the characters will show their team affiliation.
